Brenda Report 16 Aug 2011 19:34

Hi everyone, its been a fairly good day weather wise, and John and I had a ride out to the Lowry ,we needed two christening gifts for Sunday plus cards etc ,which we got and we also got some bits and peices from Holland and Barratt.
Did see a top I like in M&S, I already have it in white but wanted it in Navy.,but they did not have my size.My friend who works there will see if they get it in in my size and let me know.
We were going to have lunch there but seeing as it is school holidays everywhere was full,so we came home and had cheese on toast.and enjoyed it.!!!!
Now Fred, heres me doing my best to slow down and do things in moderation when you go and do more than me.!!!
Hope you are feeling better after a good rest.
Hope everything is ok when your grandson and wife come to stop.,you can always string up a hammock or sunlounger in the greenhouse. perhaps you and Hissy might like that.,LOL
Hope Dorothy and her family are getting on ok in their new arrangements.
Going to get settled down to watch Holby City and then CSI MIAMI..
Take care ,Brenda

badger Report 16 Aug 2011 08:40

Morning all, sorry to be away so long but we are a tad busy here at the moment what with the company and the impending arrival of the grandson and wife from Lyneham, cor ,i could do with the little caravan we had on the drive two years ago ,lol for the extra room ,but i suppose we will manage ,anyone else who turns up this next week ,will be met with a sign ,[No Room At The Inn] :-S.
Brenda ,hope the repairs go okay, expensive i know ,but as you say ,it has to be done ,and you are doing it the right way ,far better now ,than waiting until it gets really bad, making it even more expensive .
our only advantage is ,no rent to pay ,only rates and living expenses ,so we can find the money for repairs easier, and hopefully ,ours are all done now for the forseeable future ;-).
You certainly have a full itinery Dorothy wow ,are you going to be busy for a few weeks, but i am glad for you ,having the war wounded back home, lol. :-( where you at least can keep your eye on them, you need a rest even more than me :-0.
I did a Brenda yesterday ,got the hoover out at half seven a m ,before the daughter arrived home from the night shift, and did all of the ground floor ,including the dusting, did my emails and had my usual ablutions including the shave ,and settled down with a coffee.
9 am ,sun shining i got the mower out did the front and back lawns ,the edges, front and back, did a load of weeding ,and then did the shopping.
A 16 mile trip to Dudley and back to rescue the grandson and his new computer tower because he couldn't get it on the bus ,and then home to start the tea.
I made a double meal last evening, two wanted Khorma curry while three wanted Tikka so i got the pans out and got cracking doing a load of Basmati rice, and naan breads to go with it all, even a packet of prawn crackers which i put in two bowls so that all could help themselves :-\.
As i put the meal out ,my back and legs were killing me ,lol, and i realised that i had done a Brenda ,too ,much ,too soon, and there's me telling this fair lady to take things more slowly, ruddy cheek i ve got [smacks wrist]
Wasn't funny though ,by the time i finished my tea ,i was ill and took to my bed,and didn't know a thing until the cat woke me at six this morning,
Like it or not ,i am having a laszy dat ,so far ,all i have done is put the bins out ,fed the cat ,made a cuppa ,and here i am ,lol,i refuse to make a meal today three women in the house time they stirred their stumps :-).
.Have to go now anyway ,to stretch my legs and back ,no more though :-( and will be back later ,Fred :-)

Afternoon all.Glad the boys and Laura are all ok and back home even if waiting for treatment.
I have had a letter about going for physio saying i am now on the list and they will tell me when I get near the top.!! So I will give them a ring and see how long I am likely to be on the list, and perhaps go private so I can at least see what i am dealing with .!!!
Weather yesterday morning and this morning was awful but changed into a lovelly afternoon, got a lot of washing dried on the line each day after thinking the drier was going to be on.!!! So I am a happy bunny.
Hope annes kitch is ok and she does not have to re do the tiling.
We are having some work done outsdie on the main roof and baywindow roof,as well as gutter etc. We need scaffolding up at the side so that going to be a few hundred before the work starts.but it needs doing.
Better get on with a bit of ironing or I will have nothing to wear tomorrow thats been ironed.
Take care Brenda

hi brenda well the chocolate bar and the tennis went well, bryan called me when he got home and we had a nice chat apparently his knee is the size of a basket ball and is painfull but his dad had iced it and given him the pain medication so it was a bit easier, then the other 2 called later as they had only spent the afternoon at the other family cottage and where now at there mom's Laura said her back was sore and she had quite a headache and to quote Ian I am fine no injuries so that was saturday. on sunday I spoke to andrew and bryan had a good night and slept for 12hrs catching up on the sleep he did not have at camp Ian was now back at his dad's and had to quote him a big bowl of tiger shrips for lunch and dad is grilling black angus steaks for supper?tea so all is well in his worl. andrew said he will be in touch with the surgeon to-day (monday) and don't worry brenda he is open to all the help he can get from me as bryan has said he is staying at dad's and if his dad has to go away on business he would like to ask me to stay for a week or a few days what ever is needed. he has all his computor stuf etc at his dad and he says it makes no sense to move it down the road week about. as he appears to want a future inthat field after uni. I guess it makes sense. so we shall see what happens, hope all is well with you sorry you did not get to bury I spoke to anne and she said the weather has been iffy, she has work men coming to-day there is a crack over the kitchen window and it is bringing water behind the kitchen tiles over the window she has a beautiful kitchen all tiled floor to ceiling and the tiles are spectacular so I hope she has some extra's left to replace if the work men damage any. hope fred and liz had a good week-end take care bye for now dorothy

Dorothy Report 13 Aug 2011 17:12

goodmorning well just when I thought things could not get worse silly me they did, I recieved a call from andrew yesterday to say he had 2 calls from the camp first to say that bryan had hurt his bad leg it turned out to be a torn meniscus in the knee so that will have to be repaired along with the a.c.l and of course this will cut his stay at camp short he will be coming home to-day along with the other 2, he has said he wants to stay with his dad so andrew has cancelled the trip to ottawa and will take a weeks vacation next week, then another call came later to say Laura in a game had fallen over a retaining wall and had injured her kneck and back and head that entailed a trip to the hospital and being wakened up every 2hrs through the night, back and kneck ok but is left with a concussion, so andrew and lindy are going up in separate cars the boys will come home with andrew and lindy will bring Laura so out of 3 children Ian is the only one intact, andrew will call the surgeon on monday and see about getting an earlier date to fix the now 2 problems with bryans leg, bryan also asked that the surgery is still done at the end of september he wants to rehab at his dads and as he put it if you have to go out of town dad I am sure that if I asked grandma dee (thats me) she would move in for a week and take care of me. and of course I would help in anyway. Bryan is 16 so legally he does not have to go along with this week at one house a week at the other he is old enough to say where he wants to live so we shall see what happens there, so andrew should have arrived at the camp as I write this so I hope they have a good trip home I gather bryan is in a lot of pain and he does have a good pain tolerance as we found out with allhis sports injuries, so I have bought myself a giant chocolate bar and I am going towatch the semi finals of the tennis and think good thoughts and pig out on the chocolate have not done this in weeks but after the stess of the last 2 weeks I think I deserve it bye for now dorothy

Well her is version two of my message ,first one went off into space.!! Glad the family matters are getting sorted, hope it works out.
I had a vision when you discribed all the freezing and bottling at yours,of a family enterprise starting out and in years to come we will see the begining of your empire on the tv adverts like Pataks sauce.LOL
weather still wet ,John has gone to golf but am expecting him home at any minute.
Not out today ,been doing a bit of cleaning not much but more than I can usually manage .but still being careful and not going too mad!! and hoping to do some muffins later did not do them the other day.did make the butternut squash soup, which both John and David thought was good.!
Hoping for a nice dry day tomorrow,we are thinking of going up to Bury Market ,we have a double christening next week! and want to get a couple of little keepsakes for them.Other wise we will just have to give them money..Which we don't really want to do.
Hope you all have a good weekend ,Take care ,Brenda

Morning to all ,Fred reporting in again, and a good on it is too ,all seems to be coming together here at last ,but more of that in a little while.
Hope all is well with the blood tests Brenda, and remember ,relax when you go to the doc's otherwise there will be a false reading ,which will never do,the blood pressure sorted ,and you will feel a lot better ,and won't get as tired ,but you will STILL need to run at a more sedate pace from now on ,lol,no spiked running shoes ,more sneakers ,or flip flops.
We are now well into cropping mode ,freezing stuff like mad, making cucumber ,and tomato chutney ,pesto sauces with the herbs ,that sort of thing.
We will be getting our house back at the end of the month after the son in laws big bro' really read him the riot act,and said he had to work at a marriage ,not take the p*** and leave his partner to pay all the bills, while he wasted what little bit he earned on himself ,giving nothing even for food.
The deal is ,he leaves the house forthwith and continues to pay the house payments as instructed by Bro',for which he gets the bungalow rent free ,but has to pay the rates for.
Once the six month period is up,he can then pay rent and rates ,and continue to live there as long as he wishes, but if he defaults on the house payments ,he will be kicked out on his ear on to the street with no where to.go.
By this time the daughter will be sorted out ,and will take back the house payments which she always paid anyway,a good result, all due to elder brother who has also had enough of his bro'and his lazy ways,he knows now that he is on probation by his family ,as well as ours :-(.
weather wise ,it's still wet and dingy,so it's cleaning today ,no garden work .B***r,lol.
Def' getting a Chimnea from B & Q next week,it will do for burning the old wood ,and rubbish from the garden saving space in the bins, and ,i can also cook the odd burger and snags at the same time,.
The water butts are overflowing making a lovely pond out back, maybe i should start keeping a few ducks ,instead of Chickens ,he he ,at least i would have no snails or slugs in the garden ,and i would love a few duck eggs ,yum.
Be back later peoples ,Have a nice day Fred. :-D

Dorothy Report 10 Aug 2011 21:16

hi wed pm first of all thankyou fred and brenda for the kind words I have just spoken to bryan before he goes back up to camp this evening and I also spoke at length last evening with lindy I have to admit I am none the wiser but as andrew flies to ottawa on sunday evening I did agree to have dinner next week with her and the two children who will be home from camp on saturday, I have always been very fond of lindy and want to try and keep it that way. both andrew and lindy are driving up to camp to-gether to pick up Ian and laura and lindy has said that Ian perhaps would like to stay the night at andrew's as he has been at camp for 2 weeks and his dad has to leave on sunday I thought that was a great Idea wether Laura will do the same remains up to her I guess. as I said before this new co-parenting will work I guess as they can see each house from the other. Bryan now has a surgical date sept 29 for his A.C.L repair so he will get 3 weeks off school in grade 11 under his belt before the surgery and now with the internet he can sit in on his classes from home as he recovers. I have just read about the broom brigade that turned out to help with the clean up in manchester how wonderful reminds me of stories my mom used to tell about people helping each other during the war when I was a babe (born in 1942) well enough from me once again fred and brenda thanks for the kind words take care dorothy

Morning all, well I did not have to get the tin hat on,and did not hear any trouble either, and we do not live farout of the city.
My sister and brothers heard all the sirens etc and luckily again family members who work in the middle of the riot area where not working yesterday Not sure if they are going in today one works in a shop and the other two need to go througth those areas to the other side of town for their jobs.Davids store which is out of town was put on red alert yesterday, hope it closes early today if theres any more trouble.
I have to contact a friend who lives in Salford and not far from the riots there to see if they are ok.
Legs still a bit painfull so not going out ,againand will see how I am tomorrow after my blood tests before doing anything else.
Hope you are managing Dorothy, and i am so sorry for Andrew ,I have been in his position and its not nice ,luckily I did not have to go to work and cope with all that as well ans with Andrews job being so demanding ,Lindy must be a very selfish person to do all that to her family ,the kids will know whats what at their ages.
Fred hope your son in law will accept his brothers offer ,your daughter and her family will be better in their own home.,Not that you would not have looked after them.
Better go and empty the washer and try and het it dry as it has started to rain since I put it on,I am expecting John to come home from his golf looking like a drowned rat!!!!
See you all tomorrow

Morning Dorothy ,sorry to hear of the state of your son ,and i feel so sorry for him,and i'm not at all suprised to hear that his hair has changed colour like that ,mine went like that during my tour in the Gulf ,and the stress your laddie is under ,being family orientated is a lot worse than the stress i was under, wish i could give him a hug for you.
Maybe ,if Lucy sees what effect this has had on him it might just be the wake up call she badly needs, you know ,when a person marries ,the partner is the person who comes first along with the children ,NOT the parent or in laws,it's a crazy world we live in for sure.
Seems like we have both crazy weather too ,we were under flood warnings up to yesterday morning ,but the river levels seem to be going down now ,for the minute.
I don't know how we managed without the tumble drier up till last year ,but thank goodness we have it now ,i can't imagine having to go back to a clothes line in the kitchen.
'ey oooop Brenda ,you still around lass ,or are you still hiding under the stairs ,tin hat on head , :-0,making light of the situation ,but i know it's not funny ,i was in Tottenham the last time the rioting broke out ,and it frightened me a darned site more than the gulf ever did,NOT a situation to get caught up in.
Things may be sorting themselves out here too ,the son in law has been lambasted by his older brother for his selfish and cowerdly treatment of his wife ,and told he should be the one to leave the house ,not my daughter and children, and has offered him the bungalow that an aunt had until her death, last month ,saying he could have it for now ,only paying the rates until the property clears probate ,and then rent it,so ,i hope he will take up the offer.
Still piddling down here ,so i think i will put on the wellies and mooch over to the greenhouse and pretend it is warm ,sunny ,and try to cheer my tomatoes up ,lol. :-D.
Catch you later all,Fred :-)xxxx

hi just finished watching the riots in the arndale centre and was thinking that you were there the other day brenda perhaps you should follow fred's lead and get out the riot gear it is not funny what an horror to see this happening all over england. to-day (tues.) I went with andrew to pick up bryan at camp for his 30hr leave it was great to see him taller than ever hair bleached by all this time in the sun he is blonde but sort of a datk blonde normally, but the drive up was a bit tricky as we had torrential rain all the way up, but I was shocked at my son's appearance we did not make lunch on sunday or monday as he was ill, he looke awful very gaunt and his hair has gone gray alomost overnight at least since I last saw him 2 weeks ago. we kept things light as far as conversation went jut kept to some things he is doing in the house he has some friends coming on wed,and thurs, to help re arange some stuff, bryan will be sleeping at his dad's to-night and lindy is going to take him back to camp to-morrow 2hrs up and 2hrs down. lindy has got in touch with me via e-mail and wants to get to-gether for a talk after seeing andrew to-day I am going to wait a few days before that happens I need to get myself to-gether, she says I am the best mother in law a girl could have and does not want to lose me, I am a great believer that extended families stay out of marriages of their children, but those 3 grand children are my main concern, well I hope you all stay safe during these troubled times in england take care bye for now dorothy

afternoon folks,we have a sunny but chilly day to day ,but no rain yet ,so I have washed some bedding and got it on the line.
Its three years today since my darling dad died,so I have been up to the chapel at the crem ,had a little chat with him and my mum ,but they have removed the benches while they are doing renovations ,so I did not stay long.
We are not doing much else today apart from a pan of squash soup, and perhaps some blueberry muffins as I have a new recipe, which we want to have a go at.
I am not surprised at the riots, with what has been happening in the world.how the goverment could all go on holiday at the same time is beyond me. I do hope they do not spread ,but I suppose some idiots will jump on the band wagon
Hope you are all managing with all the changes you have been having.Takwe care Brenda.
