John Report 11 May 2007 05:12

Hi everyone Almost a month has gone by since I was last on GR. The weather to date has been relatively nice and that won't last much longer as there will be more wet and colder days ahead. The mountain was covered in snow a few weeks ago but with the rain that has gone. About two weeks ago we travelled to Stratford which is on the other side of the mountain for some meetings and we noticed the peak was quite bare. Our new great-niece, Morgan, was christened last Sunday and we had a finger lunch at her parent's home. After lunch my Mum came and stayed for a few days. Then this morning our son, Craig, arrived to surprise his Mum for Mother's Day and will be with us until Sunday afternoon when he will go home to Auckland. As neither Gayle or I drive it was a privilege to have Craig drive us around as we went for lunch and did shopping. John in NZ

Well Johan and I went to the wholesalers today and that leaves me feeling exhausted. It is so large that I must have walked kilometers. Anyway got nicely stocked up again. 3 kilos fresh salmon, 1 kilo plaice fillets, as well as tea, coffee, biscuits. Am undecided whether or not to make a cake as it is Mothers Day here on Sunday, but I don't have so much time. Tomorrow I have to pop out to the market and in the afternoon having a permanent. We've been invited out Saturday afternoon for coffee etc. We had lovely sunny weather all day, in fact really hot, but now it is raining. See you tomorrow. Sylvia xxx

goodmorning sylvia glad to hear that youhave an early appointment with the doctor hope they can fix you up quickly, brenda I think that you sent the bad weather over her last evening and all through the night it poured rain but this morning everything is very green the trees have come into bud very quickly and yesterday I saw lots of tulips blooming in the gardens. glad to hear fred is feeling better colds at this time of year are hard to get rid off. mothers day is sunday over here so will be going to the son's for dinner , though I tend to think that we celebrate lindy more now as she is the busiest mom. soon her university programme will be finished, I am looking foreward to the surprise graduation afternoon tea andrew has planned for her so far no one has spilled the beans bye for now dorothy

G'day Bill, always nice to hear from you ,and get news of your travels in that fair country, and you are certainly getting around [has visions of Fred chasing Bill down the road in the new car and trailer caravan [sigh] hee hee, well ,one can dream you know],and ,in the meantime ,i can do a bit of charging about over here instead lol The garden is coming on fine with most of the veggie plants being ready to pot on into cups ,so i will be starting to plant out in three weeks, including the tatties in the bins ready for Christmas .[about seven months to go ,you lot hee hee] It's very windy here today [again] sao i can't open the caravan to work on [sulks] so i will go through to the sons as planned and rescue those bluebell bulbs i was on about ,they will go very nicely with the others next year. My missus spotted some lovely carpet roses in the book yesterday and is going to order me some, they only grow three inches or so high, but spread quickly and deter cats who seemingly get caught up in the thorns of which there are plenty, also coming in three main colours ,so they should look nice I seem to be over the worst of this cold now ,but i am lucky and seem to throw them off after a few days, but poor old Liz is still barking and snuffling well, but okay apart from that. Looks as though stephen has a new temporary pad, just opposite the house ,at the back of the shops ,which the owner said he could rent for as long as it takes to get set up with the council house which he is looking for This also means that the kids won't be disturbed during their sats, which is a bonus for them ,more so being as they are doing so well at school. Have to go now ,time to treat the missus to a bite of breakfast,my turn today [again ] lol. Catch you all later.Fred. .

Hi all, Yes, I am still alive and kicking. Thinking of suing the hospital for a large sum for this lump of metal inside of me. Only joking, we can all make mistakes! I phoned the hospital and they have found me an earlier appointment than that I could find on the internet. Today I went and had my blood pricked and gave another sample of urine ready for diabetes control next week. I seem to be constantly busy with myself and can think of nothing else than doctors appointments etc.etc. Oh how I long to do my genealogy again, but cannot settle. At least I have started some cross stitch work. I do read all your threads, but forget to mention them, sorry. Miss Jude, where are you and Madoc and fat cat? Sylvia xxx

Morning all [waves to Brenda & Sylvia],seems a little quiet on here at the minute dosn't it ?,but it's the early holiday season kicking in so i reckon we will all be adding to the thread on a rota system now, lol. I think the surgeons will be crapping themselves now Brenda ,smelling lawsuite whatever so i don't think Sylvia will have to wait around for an appointment long at all. The car goes middle of the month next ,around the 16th i think ,but the garage won't have any trouble selling the old one.this one only having 16,700 miles on the clock ,and the whole car being immaculate ,and has been trouble free from the start apart from the wiper blades which are crap ,the rubber being stiff and skating half the time,i got sick of taking it back for this ,and in the finish fitted trico wipers myself ,end of problem. My family tree is now up to date revealing a lot more than i expected ,and unusual in a way in a couple of places where two families come together more tham once in multible marriages ,two into the Gomm family ,and two into the mead family, and jones family,in a short period which you helped me big style [blows kisses]and makes a note for christmas card lol. Weather here this morning can't make it's ruddy mind up ,cloudy ,then sunny ,but i darn't get the hedge cutter out until i'm sure of prolonged sun because it takes so long to trim the one side of the gates. We are going out later this morning to get Liz her four bags of compost, then she can get cracking with the potting on. She found the bluebell bulbs a couple of weeks ago which i had forgotten to put in the garden last year, and unbeknown to me ,put them in a tub along with some stray hyacynth bulbs.and they are now through and growing well,so when they finish flowering i will put them in the rockery for next year. We haveat last a date to install the new boiler and thermonic valves and wireless thermostat ,the middle of this month ,so ,shortly ,no more going to the kids houses for showers and baths[yippee]. We are already members of homeserve for the water and electric and have been informed upon enquiry that they do boiler cover too ,and that we will get a special rate for all three in together ,so that will do me maam, thank you very much hee hee. Still waiting for this certificate Brenda, and if it tells me that Martha Knight is the mum ,i am going to send for Edwins too[the one born in Witney oxon],but if it isn't the right one ,i am snookered because it's the only one i could find with the right date [1840] but it isn't the end of the world after all. I will take the sack barrow through with me when i go to the sons tomorrow ,it will help him with the removal to the van of the heavy gear like the washing machine and cooker whatever, and even the removal of Ann's coffin if she continues to work her ticket, lol Must be off now ,things to do and all, take care everybody ,see you soon.Fred.

Morning all, back at last from our extended weekend on the farm campsite in Morpeth up in northumberland . We had a great time, notably breakfast with lovely ,big ,farm, fresh eggs ,cor ,there is no comparison with shop bought ,so we bought a dozen home with us. We both bought heavy colds back too ,what a bummer, but the caravan made up for it. A lovely folding one that looks like a trailer to tow ,but assembles to a good size caravan upon erection, very comfortable ,with all emenities inside ,including a cooker, electric heater and a hook up system.for power and running water. This van is nearly thirty years old but in fantastic condition and the son says it's ours as soon as he gets a date for emigrating to Oz ,so future holidays are no longer a problem for acommodation I have to take a garden fork down to the sons next time i go ,the bluebells under the hedge are coming home with us ,they will grow lovely in the little rockery i have out front. Well, the reason we came back yesterday evening is because the car goes in for it's M O T this morning ,so it's time to get my a*** in gear lol see you later peeps [cough ,snuffle ],and a voice as low and wheezy as Arnold Sweaty knickers , i'lle be back .Fred.

good evening one and all sylvia they left a needle in you that is terrible someone messed up the needle count, hope they take it out quickly. brenda sounds as if your holiday went well and of course the wedding sounded great. to-day was a bank holiday in england I gather, hope the week goes well as you go back to work, I am not looking after the children this week as the other grandma is doing her bit, so I am at loose ends with myself, the weather has turned really nice so maybe I will go and check out the lake and see if all the ice has melted. my sister and husband have arrived at their new home in calgary it took them a week to drive there but it was a good drive she said and barkley the dog was really good in the car. well I am going to make my supper. just watched the queen on the tele she looked good george bush looked as daft as ever, can't picture him in white tie and tails at the state dinner to-night bye for now dorothy

Hi all, What a job I have had trying to find you lot tonight. So far away. This morning I had a lazy morning making a nice card for my hairdresser's little granddaughter. She is very fond of cats, so I put 3d pictures of lots of cats on a card and attached coloured ribbons in their ears or around their necks. It looks very nice, even if I say so myself. This afternoon went to the lung specialist and he gave me the good news first and that is my lungs are fine, like an 18 year old he said. The bad news is that on the photo of the top of my stomach they can see what looks like a needle, something metal anyway. He asked me whether I had recently had an operation and I told him. So I made an appointment with my surgeon - did have an appointment for August - and will ask him what he is going to do. Back to the operating table, oh me, oh my, will this never end! I am lucky that I could make this appointment on the internet and then choose a day and time of my liking. Being that our hospital is in town I don't like having to get up too early for an appointment, nor too late in the afternoon. See you tomorrow, back to work girls! Sylvia xxx

Good afternoon everyone, well i had a good holiday weather was alittle disapointing as it was cloudy half of the time but that meant we could walk about more without getting to hot.It wasstill hot but not as much as it would have been had it been sunny as well. we had some lazy days by the pool and some really good walks, and some lovely meals (with a few drinks as well). Then on Saturday was my neices wedding, and the only word i have for the whole day was PERFECT !!! can not think of anything that would have made it better. Will be doing the pictures later and as I have tried and failed to put others on the genes site I will not be doing that, but if you want me to send you a copy please send me your email addresses. You have all been busy while I am away ,but left messages to keep us going ,thankyou so much .I have read all the messages from while I was on holiday so I think I am up to speed. Back to work tomorrow,so just have to get my work clothes ironed, have just finshed the washing for the holidays!!. Take care Brenda
