goodmorning all first brenda I am glad to hear your news re the gall bladder and lets hope it is keyhole surgery though the open surgery has improved greatly over the years and not too long of a hospital stay over here it is about three days, fred I laughed till I cried about the vendor of the bungalow her got his in the end, the new house your son and family have obtained sounds smashing and your discription of it was spot on especially the details of the stove , I am sitting here thinking about you and your wife looking around your home enjoying the peace and quiet and each others company. nothing to much new over here the boys have hockey games to-day but I think that I will give them a miss, I shall pop into the library this afternoon as they have some books for me, I read 8 last week so I need some more, the sotes are very busy on the week-end so I shall stay away from them the tourist come into town from the ski hills good for the local business's though. have a dentist apt this week I do not enjoy those apts and the week after the cats are due there shots bye for now dorothy

badger Report 25 Nov 2007 09:19

Morning everyone Fred [ooooops ,Badger] reporting in,at last hale and hearty after a very frenetic week, which started off so badly, and finishing with the family in a new home, which they love.
The venor with the bungalow ,pulled out of the deal on Wednesday ,letting the bungalow to someone else for a higher rent.
The estate agent was infuriated ,and told the vendor that they no longer wanted his custom, and reported him to the association of estate agents who promptly banned him too,so he is in bother big time.
Sarah Mains did however pull out all the stops for the family, and within an hour of the first call ,offered him a house in Leamington, just outside tjhe town itself.
The house is georgian, and is prettty big,has three large bedrooms upstairs plus a largish boxroom which Joron has claimed as her bedroom leaving the two boys in one bedroom, the two girls in the other, leaving the third for mum and dad.
The whole house is in pristene condition as regards decor, and is fully furnished and carpeted.
The kitchen is huge, housing lots of cupboard space,a built in freezer ,fridge ,washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, sand a large ,range cooker ,with two ovens and enclosed grill, five burners and a griddle the main burner in the middle for use with a wok, complete with a large extactor fan/hood covering the whole cooking area.
There is a downstairs toilet which will come in handy for training Lewis, there is also a toilet upstairs [seperate] plus a bathroom with a large bath ,and an electric shower.
Two large rooms downstairs ,lounge and dining room ,again with a lot of inbuilt cupboards
Outside there is a small garden, laid out as pebbles, with loads of plant pots ,ideal for low covering flowere, and shrubs.
Within an hour of turning on the heating ,the whole house was snug and warm,so i reckon they have fallen on their feet with that one,so much so that the son loves it and is intending to take his name off the council housing list
At the bottom of the street ,the bus stop has a scholar bus which takes the two girls up to the college every morning and brings them back at night, and the youngest bairns have a school right opposite the house, and another only a few hundred yards away.
Stephen is now living within a thousand yards of the river ,so his fishing is very close for him.there are a good few local shops ,and two take aways ,one ,Pams That WE somtimes use because they do everything from pizzas to fish and chips, and ffrom kebabs to a very nice curry.
The thing that has us in stiches was the vendor for the bungalow, seeing as HIS client pulled out of the deal on Friday morning leaving the bungalow empty still, must be expensive for him, seeing as it's now been empty for nearly two years lol.
Our own house ,well ,it's lovely and quiet and peaceful lol,we have now decided to turn the spare room upstairs back into a bedroom ,leaving the hi fi in there along with the tele' so that visitors have a little of their own space ,whilst staying.
The crowning touch was Stephens lottery numbers come up last night, not a big win,but enough to help out for the first two weeks.
I'm now off upstairs to do a little sorting out,be back later.Have a nice day all .Badger.

hello everyone, sorry I did not get back yesterday, had some errands to do after the hospital and then had a good number of phone calls from family anf friends asking how I had gone on.
I still have stones in my gall bladder,so it still has to come out,but it looks like the stones that esscaped have disapered "naturally " they think,I will be going in for key hole surgery, but if the Comman bile duct is damaged it will be an open surgery. They don't know when but not too long they think.I had to tell them about my holiday ,so I am expecting to hear in the New Year.
Dorothy hope you enjoyed the Tea ,and seeing your neighbours, its been wet and miserable here.
sylvia,i lso have a christmas card from my friend in Australia, the farest away and first to receive,
Have been sorting out the things i have bought for presents as i want to get the ones I have for Dad over to his house before we go away.
See you all tomorrow .love Brenda

Hi all,
Well this last week has been a bit hectic with hospital appointments etc. but that has now finished.
The doctor only found one small polyp which he took away so should be ok for a few months again.
The bladder examination was more painful, but the urologist said it is not as red and inflamed as it was the last time he did the examination.
I tried to book a mid week on the internet but have to phone tomorrow. If everything goes well then we go on Monday 3rd December until Friday 7th December.
I received my first Xmas card yesterday from my cousin in England. She is always so early. I still have lots of presents to buy. It's the knowing what to buy which is the problem.
I have read all your contributions and am pleased everybody is active.
See you tomorrow.

hi brenda good luck to-day at the hospital your right fred must be up to his ears in helping the family move hope it all goes well, to-day the sun is shining on the snow and it looks great the cars going by are showing lots os ski's on the roof racks, the downside of yesterday was 800 yes 800 accidents in 22hrs between barrie and toronto according to the ontario provincial police who work the highways a bit high for the first major storm of the winter. as to-day is friday we have afternoon tea in the building for those who like to attend as this is a regular apartment building not a seniors complex we get a wide range of ages so it is quite interesting I have missed the last two fridays so I should pop in to-day. sylvia you have gone quiet again hope all is well bye for now dorothy

Well Dorothy i think you should give yourself a big pat on the back (or a nice drink) after going out in the snow to deliver the resume.!!
My cousin and my friends daughter are newly qualfied teachers and both have had trouble getting posts. They have both had to take either assistants jobs or working for agencies as relief staff.!! because they have families and need the money.
They have applied for lots of jobs and interviews and on most of them they didn't even get a thanks but no thanks ,if you seee what i mean.
hope the absense of Fred means he his moving his family .
Off to bed now at thehospital tomoorw ,will let you know how I get on.Bremda.

goodmorning oh margaret lucky you what a great temperature, we woke up to a massive snow storm allready 129 accidents have been reported on a stretch of the highway between me and the next town about 30 miles away, but it does look pretty I do have to go out later and deliver a resume' for the daughter in law she is teaching all day subbing for another teacher and a job has been posted about 20 miles away from here so map in hand I shall shovel off the car and try and get over to this school. all the school buses were cancelled but schools are open for the children who can get there. looking out I can see the side roads have been cleared and the salters are out so I should get there allright. the ski hill closest to me opend for business to-day they will be very happy horshoe valley resort is always the first to open in the area and I can see some cars going by with ski's on the roof racks bye for now dorothy

Hi everyone, glad you have some ending in sight for your nice cosy house full.
Dorothy I have an appointment on Friday at the hospital and I am hoping they say they will take me in and take out my gall bladder ,but it would have to be after my holidays now.
My ex mother in law sadly died yesterday ,so I am going to the funeral on Monday. She was 84 and broke her hip 6 weeks ago,she had an operation which was said to help her or she would die within a couple of days but the op was very risky anyway. She got through the op but after a few days started to go down and just did not recover.
My son is upset even at 32 ,he does have an half sister but no cousins on that side.
Nearly time for lunch

hi everyone my goodness after reading the last few entries my mouth is watering all the lovley menu's, oh fred I am so pleased for you and the missus you are getting your home back, no wonder the washing machine is making noises it will be happy for the rest as well. the overnight visit with Ian went well and the shepherds pie went down well we had a lot of fun, I got up at six this am so sure that one of the tv stations would carry the anniversary service but to my shock it was only shown in bits and pieces but what I saw looked great, I am a royalist of the title not always the person but I do believe that the country and the commonwealth have been very lucky to have the queen, for those of you who don't agree you are entitled to your opinion I just don't want to hear it. brenda you would have been most welcome for tea you have a doctors visit coming up don't you, sylvia good luck with all the tests coming up, I am off for the flue shot to-morrow since the heart attack I have to have it every year, though when I was nursing we had to have it as well, also had a one time pneaumonia shot, the son and heir is up in the clouds again going down to halifax and the eastern provinces for the week I think that it is his last trip this year, has to keep in touch with his employee's so to-day I am having a lazy day then helping with the children later this evening one has floor hockey and the others have something so I hold the fort while lindy ferries them hither and yon so I must close bye for now dorothy

Hi folks [and meercat if she happens to look in]
The news issssss good, the house[bungalow is def theirs subject only to orange confirming that Stephen does work for them.
This means that if orange confirm by tomorrow they will move this week and if not ,it will be next but wat the 'eck, another seven days i can put up with [just] hee hee.
The long awaited microwave /convection oven arrived a few minutes ago,so that will be just the biz' when we have the house back, and the newoven will be handy to have when we have company, the hobis still in good order and is gas ,which means that if we lose either power sources we can still rustle up a meal.
All we need now for a cosy Christmas is the new log effect fire to arrive, that gives us a flame effect for making the lounge look nice .cosy and warm, and we have two rooms in the house we can still keep warm in case of loosing a gas supply.
I have two gas heaters in the shed as a last resort ,but i don't like gas bottles in the houseunless they are really needed ,like this last winter when the combie gave up the ghost[rest in peace] after keeping the house warm and snug for 25 years.
The old hoover washing machine will be next to go ,it is starting to make odd noises after doing a wash a day for the last three months, but seeing as the poor thing has been with us for 14 years ,i think it has done us proud, but the last three months has been a bit too much for the old pensioner she is lol.
In all that time it has never given any trouble ,not even a blown fuse, some record for any washing machine.
What a terrible day this is ,still raining and rather cold, still we are lucky i suppose ,a lot have had snow.
Have to go ,i smell bubble and squeak ,with an egg i hope.

See ya later,Fred ,[hanging out the promised flags] hee hee

Hello everyone, the steak and kidney pie was really great, but as he did it all from scratch it took him longer than he thought, but worth the wait.

Hi all,
Well I made a huge pan of thick pea soup yesterday, so thick you can cut iut with a knife! I didn't add the smoked sausage but when I heat a portion for dinner will heat one then. I have frozen 8 meals in. Johan and I had the last portion of that I made last year during the week for lunch. It was so cold outside that the pea soup went down a treat at lunch time.
Johan has just labelled all the portions for me whilst I take it easy.
We love pea soup, but it takes so long to make, even with Johan helping me cut up the vegetables. Anyway we now have 8 easy meals.
I have a busy week coming up. Tomorrow I begin taking my tablets and Tuesday mustn't eat after 18.00 hours as I have a bowel examination on Wednesday, in the afternoon at 15.00, Gosh I will be very hungry as I will not have eaten since 18.00 hours on Tuesday.
On Thursday they are putting a catheter into my bladder. Anyway, this time next week it will be over.

Hey ,that steak and kidney pie does sound good,it's nice with shortcrust pasrty ,or suet ,done as a pudding ,either steamed ,or done in the oven.Liz has even cheated once or twice ,and put the meat in a dish, and added a few cheese scones to the top ,and done it as a cobbler.i'm sure the pie was a success.
The brood are due back today, hopefully the last week they are here[sighs of relief from us both],so ,i am doing beef,in the oven with a layer of water lapping the bottom of the meat ,to keep it tender and moist, doing yorkshires, roast tatties and parsnips, steamed sweede and cabbage ,with baton carrots, all done in a beef gravy, that should warm them up after the cold trip home ,lol.
We thought we were due snow last night ,but although it got very cold ,the snow didn't come [yet ]lol.
The cat has been following me round all morning and sniffing the air,hee hee,no good cat ,beef is for humans only ,you have a ruddy cheek anyway fir ball, after i treated you to red salmon ,left over from last nights tea, huh, whatever next .
She is now down to two meals a day ,morning and evening and is some size for a half grown moggy,i may even get a saddle so that Liz can ride her to the shop hee hee.
Have to go now ,to check the dinner, see you all later.Fred.
