Dorothy Report 8 May 2008 14:23

hi brenda glad to see you on line, but do try and get some rest, it must be hard work looking after your dad, I nursed both of my parents at my home and one does have to go get as much help as is available, daddy even was able to not go into hospital and died at home, I had a hospital bed and all the equipment I can get to make it easier but it is still hard work, and at the end of the day it is hard to become the caregiver whne no matter what age we are all you really want is to be daddy's little girl again for a moment in time, take care of yourself as the care giver gets lost in the scheme of things sometimes bye for now dorothy

Afternoon all,its been a lovelly day here agin,so like everyone else we have been outsde most of the time.John wants to move his shed so we have beeen cutting down shrubs and plants and putting some in tubs while he makes room.
Have been to my dads a lot lately as he needs more things doing,he will need some care from the district nurses they are providing pressure cushions etc and help with other stuff. The OT people are coming to see about grab rails for the stairs and bath /shower etc.
I am really seriously thinking about cutting my hours as the past few days have been a lot for me and I don't think I can do my normal hours and keep going over to dads.I only realised I had not been on here when I came in the room to put some toiletries away/

hi fred you have had a busy day the flowers that liz bought sound great it is still a bit too early for me to do the balcony as it goes down to about three degree's at night still, over here most planting does not start till may 24th weekend. I was in the local book store this pm and they had stuff set up for mothers day including some boxes of ecological plants and veg (tiny tomatoes) that you can grow in the house the topmatoes sounded interesting but the directions were inside the box so not sure how it works there were three trays for 20 dollars about ten pounds but I may go and splurge and try them out, for brenda if she is on line I bought the bew elizabeth george book it was on offer called careless in red and inspector linley story I hope it is better than the last one, it has cooled down this afternoon but did get the cat washed and cleaned inside, also put some stuff in the petrol tank that is supposed to get me through this test to-morrow I shall go for about an hours drive on thehighway before the test the mechanic says this should work, off to make my tea now bye fornow dorothy

badger Report 6 May 2008 19:07

Hiya Dorothy,we have had a lovely day weather wise, and me and Liz have been in the garden nearly all afternoon.
I managed to get the lawns scalped and the edges trimmed while we were waiting for the engineer to come and service the boiler.
He told us that they come again next year to do the last free service ,so i have twelve months to sort out aninsurance maitainance deal with homesure ,addding the boiler to the cover we already have ,the electric and the water supplies,as well as the sewage.about another twelve puonds a month i reckon.
While we were at Netto the wife found punnets of flowers,at £3 for two,so she went and bought £9 worth, looks as though we are going to be busy for a week putting them in lol..
The greenhouse is well away with trays of seeds in,and seedlings wanting pricked out,and i have five surviving rose cuttings to find a new home for out front in the rose bed.
We havea new visitor in the back garden,a young thrush ,who seems to be pretty tame and i named gordon ,after our prime minister lol, seing as it dosn't fly too well yet,and keeps tripping himself up ,i thought Gordon was an apt name ,but i should remember that the thrush is only a fledgling and knows nowt yet,not like the other Gordon ,who is plain useless he he.
We also found a few little frogs in the grass,so i had better check the lawns before i get the electric rake out to scarify the grass, don't want to hurt the wild life after all.
Must go now and get myself some tea.
With the weather so good ,i will be out early in the morning to get on with things while i can, sooo, people ,i will not be on the puter till the afternoon for a while.
See you all later, take care all,and ,be good .
Fred.

Hi Everyone,
Brenda, I am a mind reader!, Fred taught me. I am in the Bendigo area of Victoria at the moment. I did stop in Melbourne for a couple of weeks, I was stuck in Sunshine without Transport. Had to wait there until my sea baggage arrived. drastically reduced, from what I took in to NZ.
Bought a Car, couldnt find a suitable Campervan. so I will look around then trade the car in. My Car a Ford Fairmont 4.7ltr is a Gas Guzzler. and I want to at least have LPG. Anyway Brenda nice to see your health is improving, and we can still keep that 'date' on Mornington Pier.

Gday Dorothy, (you're allowed to speak to me), you really do keep this thread alive. Gold Fossicking is only exciting when you find gold. its more enjoyable when you get a hand digging, my back wont stand much more of it. so I will be using other methods. there are also many Gemstone Fossickers on the Rivers (streams). and they sit around the BBQ at night and display their daily finds. but not locations, hehe.

Back later.

Got John and my dad some Black puddings.Bought a few bits and pieces but no shoes i a afraid.Might have to go to the Lowry outlet in a week or two.
Back to work tomorrow ,then off again Wednesday could get used t these hours but not the loss of money,.
Speak to you all tomorrow Brenda

Hi Brenda, and Everyone,
Hi Badger,Thanks for the welcome, so I will chat to you first.
Well gold dredging is my thing Fred, although a bit of panning to sample the River is a prerequisite. I have to buy a lot of Gold recovery stuff, including Mercury, Smelter,Water Pump, Tumbler, sluice, etc etc. I am in an unfamiliar area at the moment, more suitable for detectors, which is a slap dash system.
Dredging the right stream is more reliable.
However you sound like your having more fun with your pipes Fred. Oh by the way, Happy Birthday to Liz. (notes the Date). Did you find that Chicken Curry rec on the Internet ?. Good choice Liz. Is Sean still in Cyprus ?. Should get a medal for that hehe.

Back later.

badger Report 4 May 2008 08:36

good morning all[and welcome home Bill] back for the gold panning no doubt lol.
Bit later than normal this morning, having a well earned lie in after the marathon setting up of the dishwasher yesterday he he.
Everything seemed to go wrong ,pipes [waste] were a bastard size, for a start, and i had to make two trips to wickes before i landed up with a match, lol, havin't had so much fun since setting up the granddaughters hampster house with all the tunnels.
However ,i did get there and have to admit ,it looks the buis' sitting up on the wall, and the pipes[ inside
the conduit] finishes the job off in style.
That's it wife ,no more room in the kitchen for anything else but Fred when he does the meals ,or feeds Hissy ,nooooo way .
I thought i had better get on and finish it off because it was to say,Happy birthday dear,an unusual present i know ,but now ,you won't need to do the washing up by hand anymore [when you do it that is ,but never mind ,i expect ,in future ,you will find extra jobs for me instead [yeah ,right].
I have taken the old girl her breakfast up in bed this morning seeing as it's her birthday, and have promised her ,a chicken curry for dinner [her birthday choice] cor,i married a weird one folks, curry for a birthday dinner ,the mind boggles.
Can't get outside today,it's the usual holiday weekend ,raining ,and a little on the cool side, but ,i have heard that we will be in for some good weather mid week ,so i will get out and start the back garden ,and greenhouse.
Not long to go now 'till we have Sean back for three weeks, and i hope he will get some decent weather this time ,lol.
Instead of painting the shed this spring,i intend killing two birds with one stone by buyiong one of those cuprinol fence sprayers ,and using it for both fence and shed, which i'm told will do for five years.
This will be handy 'cause the misses has just bought two different coloured clemantis for the shed side which faces the road,a lot better to look at i reckon.
Hope everyone is having a nice holiday despite the weather ,have a ggodun ,all of you.
Fred.

hi fred you are a busy man getting that dish washer in place should make liz's day, another rainy day over here but at lest it is not snow, yes I had fun with lindy's new washing machine, might be fun to see if it would take the wrinkle's out of me as well. just doing a few things around the house to-day and one of the store's has a sale on small tables for the balcony so I may wander over and see if I like them, hope brenda made it bury to-day I can see that market in my mind's eye and that wonderful cheese stall, and the fish hall of my what memories bye fro now dorothy

badger Report 3 May 2008 07:42

Hi Dorothy ,Brenda,and everyone else.
Interested in your new washer Dorothy, can i bring Liz over for the day ,and shove her through the hole for a wash? it would be a good way ,i reckon ,of getting rid of her wrinkles he he,and if it works ,i may even squeeze in and get rid of a few of mine lol.
I am getting into the swing of being retired again, and spent the afternoon putting up the brackets on the wall to take the dishwasher.
I put it up before doing the tea, and it looks a bit of alright.
All i need now is to find the hole cutters ,i put into the shed so i knew where they were [deeeeeer] he he,so,when i find them i can bore the holes in the benchtop to run the two hoses through to the waste ,and the water intake.
I have even bought the bigest electric conduit pipe that you can buy ,so that i can run the two pipes inside to make a nice ,neat job.
I had to get started on it as soon as possible to keep the boss happy, she wasn't too pleased about missing the mini meet at Whitley bay after spending her birthday money on a haircut for the occasion
,All was my fault ,being stuck in the country doing the last day for Peter, and didn't get back to the house until two oclock [ooooooops].
Even doing her upstairs ,a chicken dinner didn't cut the ice ,so i had to get the big guns out lol.
It was well worth it anyway, the look on her face when she walked into the kitchen to see it on the wall said it all.
Off again now ,to do a puter update, have a nice weekend all .Fred.

hi brenda I do hope that you get to bury in the morning it has rained all day and has been chilly, yes I got the washing done and dried in the dryer the new washer is great so many different cycles I used the wrinkle free just to see what that was like and it worked great and you certainly can get loads in it. so I am going to have a lazy evening with hello magazine and a chocolate bar, we no longer get the british hello just a canadian version and I do not like it as much, I am thinking of getting a subscription to the british one in the fall bye for now dorothy

goodmorning it is quite early 6-30 brenda I do hope that you get to bury on saturday, whitefield is where anne's daughter lives, I am off again to look after bryan he is feeling a little better though being inactive is not easy for him but the pain in the leg is better so maybe a few more days of rest and he will be back to normal, though muscles do take a while to heal, pouring down rain at the moment and foggy I am going to take some laundry over with me as they have a new washer one of thoughs that holds enough washing for an army so I will give it a try , lindy thinks it is great as she only has to do about 2 loads a week now which is good for a family of five. hope you all have a good week-end fred again thanks for the kind words , bye for now dorothy

Dorothy Report 30 Apr 2008 14:41

goodmorning fred I am glad for you that things will soon be back to normal and that you can get your hands on doing the kitchen you really never stop, brenda you really had a busy day hope that you are not over doing it, yes I looked up the book on amazon I think that anne will buy it for me I will send her the money and then she will mail it on, I am a little sad that she is not comin g this year but I understand why, I think that I will now aim for coming over in the spring as my sister wants me to visit her in oct. and the fare to calgary is as much as the fare to bury, so one can only do so much spending, yesterday I was over after school to keep an eye on the children but before i got there II recieved a call from the school to pick up bryan he had an injury so later i took him to the clinic and he has a hamsting injury that must have happened 3 weeks ago and stedaly got worse till it really went haywire yesterday, he is very active in all kinds of sport and does not really complain just gets on with it. so the youngest had a birthday party to go to, laura had a project and their mom was taking a course at the college and andrew was at a conferance in toronto, quite a busy evening, bryan has to go for physio but can hobble to school just no sports etc , so to-day I am having a lazy day, recieved a call re the little job should have more info on the week-end. I figure that this small paycheck will go to-wards my air fares I do get homesick at this time of year strange after 50 yrs here the computor is jamming so bye for now dorothy
