well just about finished my ironing and just have to get it in the case!!!!
My friend at work was making up shoe box gifts for her church, the idea is that you make up a shoebox with small gifts for a boy or girlof a certain age, things like pens, paper pencils, sharpneers, erasers, soap. toothpaste etc,the church will then send them to somewhere in either Europe or Africa where the boxes will be appreciated. We can put a post card in from where its from but not anything about us.We did it were I used to work and got quiet a few boxes done each year.
John youare a very busy person,do you get to ride on the motor bike in the father christmas suit??/ or do you have a sleigh.
Dorothy, luckily I do not have many overseas cards to post,so thats ok,but the posty here is about 28p second clas and the size of the envelope matters as well now.and the weight!!! I have well over 50 to post and am thinking of cutting sown next year when i am not working.
Work are asking us to give to one of three chosen charities intead of cards for evertyone ,which is a good idea ,if i had not already got my cards.
Off to finish teanow.See you all tomorrow ,take care.

goodmorning good luck on the collection of toys john and I hope it is not too hot in the santa suit, brenda we are having the same kind of weather cold and wet plus the odd snow streamer off the lake I did not go out yesterday and I don't think I will venture out to-day, the cats do not have to have their regular shots seeing that they are in kidney failure and the rabies shot is only given every two years so they are not due till 2009, plus seeing that they are indoor cats and 15yrs old the vet said that they are starting not to vacanate older cats, I mailed my overseas xmas cards yesterday all 25 off them the postage was very expensive but it is only once a year and I like keeping in touch with people going to do laundry to-day brenda I do hope that you have a great holiday bye for now dorothy

Hi everyone
This coming Saturday we having a bike run around the mountain getting children toys for Christmas. This is an annual event throughout the country where motorbike groups do their bit for the community collecting toys for children. I've been roped in to wear - you guess it - the Santa suit, just hope its not too hot and more importantly that it doesn't rain.
By the way Brenda, coffee is fine for me considering Sallies don't drink.
Catchup next time. John

Hi all,
Yes, it is certainly winter wonderland here too Fred and Brenda. It's a good thing I have enough food supplies in the house as I'm not venturing out - don't want to break my leg, do I? I watched the cars going past inch by inch. We are lucky in having no appointments until the end of the week - well we should have been on holiday. Yesterday I made a huge pan of Dutch pea soup, so thick you could cut it. I have frozen in 7 meals. I also made a Dutch apple tart. Today I decided I ought to have a rest day so phoned for a takeaway meal. So cheap and enough for two days.
Johan is coping ok with his urine bag strapped to his leg. He has an appointment with the urologist on Friday so wonder what he will say.
I cannot feel any difference with the new antibiotics, so we seem to be at a standstill. I have to see the urologist on 8th December.
Be careful everybody, and if you don't have to go out then don't. We have had so many accidents here this weekend, even though everybody was warned about the snow coming.

badger Report 23 Nov 2008 08:12

Iiiiiil tell you what i'm up to Brenda now that i'm retired he he.
I have been up since five lol ,after a lifetime of getting up at this time for work i find it difficult to stay in bed [bummer]
I did an hour on the family history before feeding the cat,who kept reminding me that every two days ,she gets a little milk with her brekkie, mainly by the way cats do it,get behind ,and between your feet ,till you either do as they ask ,or fall over he he.
I then opened the door to let her out for her morning visit to her boyfriend, who ,i might add ,she can't think that much of ,because as soon as her nose went over the portal ,and she saw the snow, she shot back into the dining room, and went under the table to sulk.
It's perishing up here this morning ,and i have just opened the blinds to reveal a white world ,and still it snows, but, B***** it,i have all the supplies i need to exist ,for at least two weeks ,so ,it can please itself,as to what it does.
Think today something warm and filling is required for dinner,so .i think a bacon badger is called for, with some bubble and squeek to use the last of the cabbage, and mash from yesterday.
The cat ,by the way ,took another look through the window as i opened said blinds and appears to have gone back up to bed,not daft is she?
Think i will have a quick shuftie at the other boards before starting the dinner preperations.
Catch you later everyone,Fred.

Hi all,
Well I defied the wind and bad weather and went on my scootmobile to the market. It has been like a madhouse ever since I came back. I phoned the hospital this morning before I went out to tell them that the anti bacterial tablets I have been taking have not helped one little bit. Ok, they would send me another prescription, only because it is Friday they would fax it to my chemist who would then bring it to me. Simple, so to hear. When I asked the girl later what the name of the new tablet was she told me and I said "oh, no, I have had those tablets and my hair fell out:. She told me I should have mentioned that before and me, big mouth maybe, told her she should have read her notes properly. She had to phone me later because she couldn't get through with the fax number I gave her and asked me if I would do something. I phoned our chemist and the big white chief himself, nice man, phoned the hospital for me and sorted it out. The girl couldn't even read her own handwriting!
I received my tablets this evening at 19.00 hours and without a piece of paper telling me about the tablets and when I should take them in.
Thank goodness for internet. I have looked up these tablets on the internet and know just as much as the doctor now, or do I?
The nurse came in to rinse Johan's bladder out and it was the nurse I first had after my bowel operation for cancer. She recognised me directly. I recognised her too, and she told me she now has a daughter of 16 months. How time flies!
Now, see you all t omorrow.

Hi everyone
Planted some carrot seeds this morning, Mum sent in a spare pack that she had with a note saying to 'use tweezers to plant a few seeds'.
Gayle and I had a busy week, Tuesday preparing for a dinner to feed 100 members of an 50's plus group at church and on the Wednesday serving the meal which consisted of ham on the bone, chicken, pumpkin, kumara, potatoes, carrots and peas followed by a dessert - members of the club were asked to choose from one of three desserts, strawberries, meringe and ice cream, fruit salad, meringe and ice cream or steam pudding and custard. We were glad that day was over which ended with a sing-a-long which I was asked to lead.
Thursday my second volunteer day was thankfully a lot slower pace.
Today I am taking it easy, have been told to leave my shoe off my good foot because it has been rather itchy and I've got cream to combat it.
Looking at the clock 10am on a Friday, time for coffee. Catchup soon, John

Hi all,
Went with Johan to our own doctor this morning and he has an appointment to see a urologist. The doctor wanted to go the long way round with internist/urologist etc. and I said why? If Johan goes to the urologist he can be treated directly. I am almost sure he has prostate gland problems, whether there is a tumour or not remains for the expert to find. At least my doctor does listen to me and more often than not agrees.
I went shopping afterwards. There was a bitterly cold wind. We have snow forecast for tomorrow, so I told my neighbour if it is slippery then I will not be going to the market as usual. She'll have to find somebody else to get shopping for her.
See you tomorrow
Sylvia

Good morning peeps, cor ,i issss still stuffed from yesterday lol,but i did enjoy all my birthday cards12 of them ,all arranged on the table as we sat down to our meal,
My son took a few photo's ,so i will see if any of them are any good lol,he is a great mechanic and do it yourselfer ,but piccies?,hmmmmmmm ,he he.
We both had a very laid back day yesterday ,so i waas up early this morning taking the last of the stump root carrots out of the troughs, enough for a laaaarge saucepan of soup[ [for the freezer]
I have also kicked off with the corned beef,it is now in the slow cooker simmering away,in fact ,it was too big to fit ,so i cut off a piece and put that in a large saucepan, which i will cook later this afternoon, placing potato, carrot ,cabbage ,celery ,in the pot an hour before the cooking time finishes, this ,we will have for tea tonight ,yum ,yum.
The meat in the slow cooker will be put in the fridge over night to firm up,and i will slice it tomorrow ,put it in batches and get it down in the freezer,so we can draw on it over the winter,as we fancy it.
I have one joint left in the freezer which i will do at Christmas ,for any company that rolls up,lol, only SPECIAL guests gett the corned beef.
Looks like the big tub of main crop of carrot will be coming out as soon as i fix up a clamp in the greenhouse,so we should do okay for veg 'over the winterwhat with the kale ,cabbage sweede and leeks we have out there, and ,of course ,the two barrels of tatties.
Thanks to all for the very welcombe birthday wishes,it completed my day.
Hope everyone is feeling better today, including our Sylvia ,who is still having a pretty rough time of it what with Johan unwell ,and the loss of her holiday [bummer]
Have a good weekend all .Fred.

Hi all,
Well it is a good thing we cancelled the holiday yesterday because when I came back from hospital today from my bladder rinse Johan asked me to call the emergency doctor. He was in so much pain. I managed to persuade a doctor to come out. I wasn't having Johan going to the surgery! I can be very demanding on the telephone, especially when I get one of the young girls asking so many questions. I just said "send a doctor or an ambulance, now". Yes, it did work.
We think it is Johan's prostate gland. The doctor emptied his bladder via catheter and has left him with a catheter in now. Tomorrow he has to go to our own doctor.
My house is all topsy turvy with suitcases lying around, piles of clothes, clothes hangars etc.etc. As soon as we get Johan sorted out I can settle down again. I phoned my household help and told her she hasn't got a holiday on Monday as I need her to help me. Oh well, will keep you informed, until tomorrow.
