Hi all,
Well I've not been posting so much as usual but this is because I am trying to sort out things in case we do have a move. Johan keeps bringing up the subject of living in sheltered housing (I think you call it that). I am quite happy where I am. We have a large flat where you "can swing a cat". A large balcony. But, if one of us becomes so handicapped that the other cannot cope then we might get split up so Johan wants to do something about it now. This brings us of course to get ting rid of things we no longer use. I have been selling some things on the internet and have been pleasantly surprised that some people want my "rubbish".
Why is it that after Xmas everyone goes on a diet and we are all so conscious of our weight - well the ones that need to - and don't buy any chocolates etc. We just lose a few kilos and lo and behold what do I see in the shops already - yes, Easter eggs. Lots and lots of delicious chocolate eggs, filled with delicious fattening centres. Now try and tell me not to buy them. Oh, I'm just buying them to decorate the house I said, but I'm afraid my chocolate bonbon dish needs filling quite often. I even saw special Easter biscuits, oozing with cream and chocolate. I could of course send Johan to do the shopping and then I wouldn't be tempted, but would he be tempted I wonder?
My granddaughter Linda started a new job today. She is now manageress of a book/paper shop. She will be responsible for ordering for the shop and taking on new staff etc. Quite a responsibility for a young 26 year old. Johan and I went to see her today and took her a pot filled with Spring bulbs. The shop was very busy. They have an area of the shop cordoned off to act as sub post office. Like the UK they are closing down our Post Offices and having more sub post offices in supermarkets etc. The same goes for our banks.

Well its been a nice day agin,but I have been in work since 12.30 and am here till 8pm. Its my least favourite shift,but it is out of the way this week.
Hope everyone is ok and the weather is being kind to you wherever you are. Our little thread is nearly two years old ,aren't we doing well!!!!

Hello everyone froma very spring like day in Manchester,I have not been out but have been told its "warmish".
I have beencleaning,so if I stop to go out it will not get done as I will be sidetracked into doing things elseware!!
I do know the programme you spoke about Dorothy ,its called Britains got Talent! They have had somereally good acts on it ,an opera singer won it the year before called Paul Potts ,he hardly spoke or smiled because he had terrible teeth after he won it was the first thing he treated himself to.The winner gets to perform at the Royal Command Performance in front of the Queen .
Enjoy your books ,I have a couple ready for the holiday ,but am trying to read the Kerin Slaughter books my friend lent me just before christmas.She lent me about 5 or 6 and I am only half way througth them,mainly because I had a few library books which where two week reds ,so i had to get themback as other people were waiting.
Been trying to tidy up this work area since getting the new monitor ,but even after getting rid of some old papers and bills etc there is still a lot to look at !!

hi goodness fred what a night you have had hope that you have got your van sorted and that the cat came back in, yes brenda I do have to go out to-day in the cold mind you it has crept up to -18 quite balmy I shall wait till about noon I have to go to the library the new quentin jardine and stella rimington are in for me along with a couple of others and nothing keeps me from the library unless the car is snowed in and that is not the case at the moment. a friend in florida (forner bury girl) sent me an e-mail of a 12yr old who sang ava maria on some british talant show from last year what a voice but she said she did not win a break dancer did do you know what I am talking about , well the cats want their morning treats so I should go just think my grandchildren are out on the slopes this morning two ski-ing and one having snow boarding lessons also both parents ski-ing up and down the hills makes me cold to think about it. bye for now dorothy

Hi ,just a quick hello ,its a very qyiet day at the minute,but that could change this afternoon.
weather not bad at least its dry,
At least we don't have to worry to much about freezing temps or fires!!!
Have the house to myself tonight ,John and David out .John at his mothers ,david at his friends .!!!
Looking forward to lunch have some home made squash and pepper soup.
Hope you got some sleep fred!! and the cat came back
Dorothy hope you do not have to go out again in that weather,it will be nice for you to see your sister.

Hi all ,well ,this is looking good for the weekend ,lol,just dropped off to sleep when i hear a loud pop,toughened glass type of pop,as in windscreen being put out.
Old Fred leaps out of bed [well,leaps for me that is] he he ,in reality ,more of a sloth leap [if you know what i mean].
Groans as these pore old bones creak into action lol,and goes to the bedroom window,takes one look ,shambles back to the bed to get dressed 'cause there is gonna be a knock at the door.
sure enough ,it comes as i hit the top of the stairs ,and i get two more knocks at the letterbox before i can get to the bottom .
One policeman at the door,and i have to say to him,exuse me fella,i am retired ,disabled [sort of] and it takes me more than thirty seconds to pull on my trousers and get downstairs ,verstanden?.
I did say ,yes ,i did hear the noise of breaking glassas your van windscreen was put out,and no ,i didn't see who did it because i can't move like a Gazelle at my age ,lol.
And ,i'll have you know ,youve let my ruddy cat out grrrrr,so ,if you don't mind ,i will go out back to try to get her back in.
Oh ,what a gay [night ] so i 'm sat here having a cuppa ,winding down ,again lol,before going back to bed,to try again.
If i wake up tired ,in a bad mood ,and you hear a load of banging about ,don't worry folks ,it's only me battering hell out of the bread dough ,he he pretending it's a young coppers rear end.
Poor lad,i feel sorry for him in a way ,how in hell does he explain that to the desk sergant when he gets back to the station, hmmmmmm?,i mean ,if he can't see who did it at his age ,what ruddy chance do i ,or next door stand ,both being pensioners .

hi folks well this has been one crazy day weather wise at 7am this morning it was 10 degree's above then the fog and rain started by noon it was -3 and the rain had turned into freezing rain and now it is -15 and going down to minus 20 over night, I was watching the new fires in melbourne on the tele australia is really being hard hit hope all our contacts are safe and sound. yes brenda chris will spend some time with me when she is here for the wedding how much I don't know as yet but it will be nice as I will not have seen her then for almost a year seems ages since last october. fred glad to hear that you crocus etc are coming up spring should be here soon for you should it not bye for now dorothy

Evening folks,weather a bit on the wet side today,managed to get my errands done and go and see my friend and have a cuppa with her.I will miss calling in on her when she is back in work ,she is recovering from a hand operation at moment and of sick.
Hope your friend is ok Dorothy ,good news about your sister,will she be able to stay with you ?
I noticed some of our crocus trying to come through fred ,hope the snow does not materilise and they don't get killed off.
My son is waiting to use he pc now so might be back tomorrow or later tonight any way have a nice weekend.

Mornin' peeps,been out back this morning to look at my snowdrops and crocus while i can ,seeing that the snow is due back next week grrrrrrr,still,with any luck ,when that clears away we will have a straight run into the warmer weather[sighs hopefully].
I notice things don't look too good in Victoria again,the forcast for that state does not look good at all,everything being tinder dry yet again.
Have to go to town later this morningto post off my licence for renewal,so i had better go and do a little work lol.

hi one and all it is a very rainy evening over here and snow is on the way but at least the sun was shining hope that your evening at work was not too busy brenda, I had an e-mail from my sister to-day to say she is coming to oakville near me in sept for a wedding so we willhave achance to see each other. other than that not much news I have been waiting to hear how my friend is doing after the artificial heart implant but the hospital is not releasing any info, he has no immediate family so it is hard getting news my son was going to try and see him to-day or to-morrow it is a very closed unit and one can understand they don't want the patients exposed to infection. bye for now dorothy

hi one and all well the sun is shining over here and it is going to be warm to-day 2 above to-morrow we are in for rain and snow mix so I think I will pop out to the shops to-day I agree brenda fred is so good on the computor I have to take his e-mail out whenever I want to delete the cookies etc. mind you it has been a good help. I am happy to say brenda that the hair is doing well I am pleased that I am back to normal. I have been checking prices on line for fares to england but still don't think I will manage it this year, I am so mad that air canada do not fly direct to manchester I don't fancy changing at london. oh well I may win the lottery and then I could fly in my own jet. it is the time of year when I do get homesick even after all these years like they say oh to be in england now that spring is here ( or at least on the way ) bye for now dorothy

Hi everyone,well it is dry today but I would not say that it is the mild day the weather people said we would get.!!
Not many people in this morning at work,they will all be here this afternoon no doubt when we have less staff on.

Have been replying to emails for a while and did not realise the time ,so do not have a long time here.

Good afternoon peoples lol,i issss back at last having sorted my laptop out so that i can go online any where by either wi fi ,or by mobile internet via vodaphone.
it took some getting there though ,and i was gettin' pretty p*** off before i got the connection.
The dongle was stuck into the usb port ,sitting there like a huge carbuncle and as dead as the proverbiale do do he he.
It eventually dawned on me that there must be something wrong with my programming ,lol ,so i started to go back through the files,where i fould i had ommited some files from windows office ,oooops, once i put that right i got the connection i was after,and now i could go out on a boat fishing and be on the net at the same time [might even try that in the summer].
getting stuck into the garden now ,after being at the docs this morning for my diabetic review,wahay must be doing something right because my sugar levels are staying well down.
.Time to swan off again and sort the tea out,catch you later Fred.

hi brenda hope the tummy has settled down I plan on a early night I stayed up last night to watch the oscars till the end the end being after midnight and i had to get up at 7am, I had a girly day to-day I was a model for my hairdressser as she had two colour techs come out to show her a new line of products and to get my hot red hair calmed down all went well and I got a free colour and do out of it so we shall see how it goes. it was very cold to-day -20 and this pm we had quite a bit of the blowing white stuff will it ever end. I enjoyed danny boyle mentioning st marys in radcliffe in one of his speaches brought back memories,nothing much planned for the rest of the week so I may do my income tax it is tax time and get it sent in hopefully I won't owe the government any money bye for now dorothy

Had a really lazy day which was just as well as i did not sleep at all last night,got up with an upset stomach and then just could not get back to sleep so came on here and had a little search for some names ,had a bit of luck with my dads mothers family>Went down stairs had a drink and started to read ,before I knew it ,it was 8am!
Had a little nap but got a headache so just did not do anything ,apart from cook the tea and a bit of ironing.
Having an early night as i need to do the errands etc tomorrow that i did not do today.
Good job i am not in work till wednesday,

Good afternoon everyone,glad you had a good visit Dorothy ,hope your friend is ok and the weather improves.
Sorry you did not get your visitors sylvia ,but glad your shoulder etc are on th emend,we have a "wheat bag"which sounds like your cherry thing as it goes in the micro wave and then onto your aches and pains.
Going out for a meal with some friends shortly one is 60 on Tuesday and we can not get out then so we are going today.
Been trying to change the ink in my new printer but can't het the thing that holds the ink to stop where I can open It,will try again tomorrow as I will loose my temper shortly if I do not get it done.

hi one and all well I am back in barrie it is saturday 5-30pm ,y time I arrived back 5 minutes ahead of the promised snow storm good timing on my part, I did leave early on wednesday and had a good drive down I had a great time lots of good food good friends lots of laughter, watched the obama visit to canada on the tele all in all a great visit and even got to exchange xmas gifts and have lunch to-day with another friend and no john I was not throwing snow balls, it was a good run back to-day I came on the side highway as the 400 was closed in part due to more accidnets it has been closed for the last three days at different times for different reasons but speed is usually the problem and white outs. at the moment it is pouring down snow and very poor visability. my friend had the artificial heart implanted yesterday I spoke tohim on thursday I think the is very brave but he really did not have any other recourse as a donor heart has not turned up as yet, he hopes tobe able to talk to us on monday andrew will go to toronto to see him next week now it is off to make a coffee unpack and relax hope that you all are well take care bye dorothy

Hi all,
Well the visitors I should have had today phoned to say they couldn't come. A pity for all the time I spent cooking yesterday. I took a large slice of Dutch apple tart up to my neighbour so she was pleased my visitors didn't come. She came down and bought another 8 of my cards I had made. I need to keep up my stocks as her friends have been asking where she buys her cards. I don't have time to make cards in a big way though.
My aches and pains are a lot better fortunately. I have a cherry-pit cushion which I put in the microwave and put this warm cushion on my shoulder. Saved a visit to the doctor!
