Hi from a rainy but sunny Manchester,it does not seem to be able to make its mind up.Only working 2-5pm today so did some washing at home this am but have to now get it dried as the rain was intermitent.
We enjoyed our time in Blackpool but because we go to see Johns mother and step father we do not go any where as she finds it difficult to walk about much now. The lunch went well ,but think David would have preferred a pizza!!
Nearly home time so I had better get some things finished.
See you soon ,Brenda

Just a quick one this morning folks,to let you know that we are still here, lol.
have now finished restoring the xp computer, loaded in windows ,and it,s back on line ,yippee ,it means Chris can do his games again and he isn't looking over my shoulder as i use the big laptop,i sure wasn't letting laddo on £750 worth of my H P.he he.
Getting on well with the garden now ,front nearly finished ,apart from fifty bedding plants which i will put in this evening.
I have also restored my vista computer too ,but havn't put windows back in yet.,but i did install a second dvd rewritable rom drive which will help in copying discs ,one drive to the other without putting it on the hard drive first.
Time to get on with the dinner, but will be back later.
You chose the right time to visit Blackpool Brenda, the son and family came back yesterday from their weeks break ,and said the weather was brilliant for the time of the year.
There seems to be a firebug down there with a grudge ,another fire which did a lot of damage to the buildings.
See ya later peeps,Fred.

Hi all, Gayle is waiting the placement of the fistula in her arm so dialysis can begin. She sees the surgeon tomorrow as there might be a graft done instead ----- what a waiting game.
Anzac Day [25th April] we didn't venture out to any of the memorial services either at dawn or later in the morning but stayed home and watched two on TV one from Wellington and later from Gallipoli. These services are always very moving. My grandfather lost two brothers in WW1 one of them won a military medal died to injuries towards that war's end.
Hurrah - Sunday night means I will be able to see what's happening on 'Casualty' - being on UKTV on Sky means we are behind what's screening in the UK and that doesn't matter.
One British series I really enjoyed was 'Wild at Heart' - I think I mentioned a while ago that the broadcaster here screened the series back to back. I think ITV is making series 5 so I can't wait for that to screen here.
Catch you another time, John

Dorothy you sound as bad as me when going to the book store etc,we are having some work done in the bathroom in June, so will have to be really strict with myself for a while with my spending as its a bit dearer then we thought,
Just need to make sure what the weather is doing so I know what to take with me tomorrow,we never know if we might be going out in the evening or not,so i am never sure what to take.the weather is supposed to stay dry tomorrow but will be raining Sunday ,but we will be coming home before lunch as we are out for lunch for my sons birthday.
Feeling chilly at the moment but will be staring tea soon so will warm up then I expect.

hi well brenda I hope that you and john have a great week-end in blackpool brings back happy memories for me, well the parking lot recieved a very good clean yesterday I did spend the morning at andrew's and then at noon went to the book store (chapters) which is near their home just to take down titles of new books so I can request them at the library promised myself I would not buy anything but ended up coming out with a new graham hurley called no lovelier death it would take ages for the buyer at the library to bring that in. and then on the reduced stall I found a quintin jardine that I had not read called the fallen gods not sure how I missed that but it was reduced from 24 dollars to five , saw that they had the new val mc dermid in but I have been trying to get that in at the library so far no such luck. to-day it is 10 degree's going up to 25 this afternoon crazy or what the whole week-end is supposed to be nice so I am going to put out the funiture on the balcony after I have washed the three big windows, also the solar lights I have to charge them up at least that is theplan hope you all have a good weekend bye for now dorothy

Sorry to be so late this morning ,this is due to one veeeeery demanding missus grrrrrrr ,lol, why is it us poor males have to kow tow to them everytime he he.
Fred comes down stairs this morning ,takes a tea straight out to the front garden, and re waters the lawn to ensure the feeder has gone in,and comes throuighj to the back garden in time to put the feeder onto the back lawn.
I Come inside to make myself another cuppa, and seeing as it's now 7am,i take the boss one up too.
I hear then that rain is due and thinks ,ha,no need for the hose ,good,i can get on line for an hour before doing the housework, thus ,having a plan of action ,i wind up the hose ,drink my tea,and walk into the lounge where i find the missus,on her lappy.
Then i hear the dulcet tones[always a sign of trouble],the wife says ,can you programme the puter to the printer for me please BEFORE you do anything else,so that's me,on line a good hour late, still ,she can print her piccies lol,huh ,women.
Catch you all later,Fred.

Kathleen Report 23 Apr 2009 01:47

Hi everyone, hope you are all well now and recovered from the winter ills though there are still some bugs lingering on. My g.daughter has had a bad chest infection which just will not clear, she has just been given some stronger anti-biotics so hope that will work. Not helped by her also suffering from hayfever - and we have loads of trees full of blossom around here. Have had a problem with that myself, can be such a nuisance streaming eyes and nose and my eyes get very sore. Happily my physiotherapy has worked really well and I have now recovered the flexibility in my hand, just have to continue a bit longer to build up the strength, been told using the keyboard is good excercise now.
G.daughter was stopped whilst out in Oxford Street by a talent scout for a model agency, took photo's and they liked her so sent her to have a portfolio done - must say the photo's taken after they had "made her over" looked great -but whether it leads to her getting any work remains to be seen. She has been approached before but always declined, this time she decided to go for it - not tall enough for catwalk work but we just have to wait and see whether the magazines like her look.
John I do hope your wife does not have to wait too much longer for her treatment to start, the waiting is so hard and makes it all so much more stressful.
Fred, Brenda and Dorothy, you are all keeping so busy - makes me feel tired just reading about all your activities.
Thankfully the weather is getting better now and I hope to be able to do a bit more outside in my very messy garden. Some of the shrubs suffered in the frosts and I want to get rid of some as I think they will not recover well enough to keep and they are getting a bit too big now. Wish I could still do all that I used to be able to but age is catching up with me a bit lately - and I do keep being reminded by (no doubt well-meaning) people that "at your age you should be taking it easy". Don't really want to but have to admit these old bones do ache a bit these days.
Sylvia is a bit quiet lately, hope all is well with her and Johan.
Take care
Love
Kathleen

Morning all, just have a few minutes before the washer stops and i can put the washing out and go to work.On at 12.30 til 8pm tonight, not my favourite shift.,but they have to be done, due to people on lingterm sick and a few people getting transfers to othet libraries etc we are a bit short staffed, they have a lot of events coming up and therefore the shift pattern is even more crazy .I am not as bad as some but we will be doing two lates a week and possibly a Sunday every so often at the new library that opens Sundays 12-4pm.I ill just see how things go ,if it stays like this longer than they have said, then I will have to reconsider my finishing date as I don't really like doing some shifts at some libraries but do like most of them.If i reduce my hours any more I will probably end up doing 3hours a day over four or five days and mainly in the evenings, which i do not really want to do
Speak to you soon take are,Brenda
PS Fred if you are having a lazy week I don't want to know what a busy week is for you.!!LOL

Sorry for the break in transmission ,the ruddy puter started an update with no warning grrrrrr.
This morning i got the back finished as stated and then sat down on the patio with my morning coffee and two slices of toast while i summoned up reserves of energy.
Break over ,i started in the greenhouse ,transplanting Corriander,Mint.Basil, and Dianthus, before starting putting more seeds in,mostly Green and Red Peppers,Cucumber,Aster,Pyrethium Daisy,Busy lizzie, and Petunias.
Came back indoors and rigged up the Acer lappy to the workstation for the missus so that she can use the printer again until i get the xp tower back online. So, that's about it for now ,a pretty lazy week so far, catch you all later.Fred

Hi everyone, and beware,he he ,that Brenda has the crystal ball out again ,or has been watching me via Google Earth.
I was out front all yesterday afternoon clearing out the top border and feeding same, weeding the two little beds in the middle of the lawn and trimming the grass round them.
I checked the palm tree as well ,and it looks fine, no signs of trouble of any sort.
I bought the two bins back in this morning after the bin men had been, and then fed the lawn seeing as it looked like rain, and then it was time to start out back.
I fed all the buckets ready for the brassica.fed the little borders ready for the leeks and onion, and then finished off putting the spring onion seed in.
