Hi Awdrey, he did paint Conway, but the castle I am thinking of is in the South of England ;-)) We were looking for Upnor Castle, on the Medway in Kent, overlooking Chatham Dockyard ;-)) |

Evening all How about this one to get the old (or in some cases not so old) grey matter working :-)))) Prisoners on the hulks may well have looked out on this castle, once painted by Turner. Built in 1559, it was built to protect the nearby dockyard |

This is a medieval manor house dating from the early fourteenth century. It's first known owner was Sir Thomas Cawne ( @ 1360 ) It is famously known as the most complete small medieval manor house in all of England. |

Hello folks, Sorry, I've cheated! Waltham Cross, Eleanor was the wife of Edward the First. Crosses were apparently erected at the various points her body rested on its final journey. Angela The Eleanor Cross is one of only 3 surviving from the original 12. Cliff Richard attended King's Road Primary School. |
