Hi girls, sorry to be so late checking in :-) won't go into details, but I ended up only joining you this morning. Still was the the wrong day lol, but I'm getting thru it! I do like the patches - they stop you having that 'gnawing' feeling of wanting a fag (the only way I can describe it). Don't fancy gum or lozenges. Well, we shall see how I get on. Haven't got any in the house, so can't have a sneaky one. It's all in the head really - so we'll see how strong willed we are I suppose! Maz. XX ps well done Julie for keeping it up!

oh dear i've had 2 not very good, i'm at court tomo and i will not be bringing any with me, then out with hubby in the evening and i wont bring any he will make sure of that. Well done everyone.

Hi Alaina When i was at the chemist to talk to some one they said cos i didn't have 1 within the 1st half hour of waking up they would put me on the 16 hour patches which are the 10mg ones. I don't put mine on till about 9.am cos the 1 i missed the most was the one i had just before i went to bed you might need the 24 hour ones. Julie xx

Hi Val/Gwen I have started on Nicorette 10mg patches (step 2) and I am chewing 4mg gum, I figured that I needed to start on the strongest amount possible, Step 1 Nicorette patches are 15mg so I'm doing it about right. I think the gum is getting a bit too strong for me now as it is making me cough when I get the first hit of nicotine. I had one roll up this morning but thought afterwards why did I do that I didn't even want it, it is just that habit of having that first morning fag and it was before I'd put the patch on, so that is my next habit to break, I've definately got there with not smoking at work I just keep telling myself that it isn't allowed. Yesterday flew by coz I kept myself so busy before I would be clock watching to see when I could go for the next fag, and now because I'm not it was 4 O'clock before I knew it and then 5! I did have one roll up last night aswell but I reckon 2 roll ups in the space of over 24hrs is bloody damn good to say I was a 20+ a day smoker! I have just been out for my lunch though and had a wobbly moment, when you smoke you don't see all the other smokers about but when your a non smoker there bloody hundreds of them lol I did think shall I by a pack? but managed to walk into the supermarket, grab a sandwich and a can of Red Bull pay for them and walk out again without going anywhere need the cig counter that took alot of control and I got a bit of a buzz off the craving not beating me! Gwen I went to the chemist and had a chat with them, im on patches 2 boxes per prescription, but if you don't pay for a prescription then you get them for free. You have a choice of patches gum pretend ciggie or nose spray Julie 31 days

Hi Gwen - have you got any support from a clinic?? most doc surgeries have one, well all surgeries l wud think. Get some patches - You are doing great :o)) keep your chin up girl - YOU CAN DO IT - repeat after me - I CANNN DO IT, INFACT I CAN DO ANYTHING :o))) My nephew was talking about some lozenger things that have nicotine in them, try them!! jude sarf wales :o) xx
