Hi Alaina and everyone. Have had a few 'moments' today, but on the whole have completely forgotten about it! I love these patches :-) Glad to see you are doing so well Alaina - don't cave in, it will taste awful and you will be so angry with yourself. I think Jean said further up that the craving apparently lasts 3 minutes, so you need to find summat else to do during that time. Kids are back at school tomorrow, so there will be more temptation if I go in a shop, but I am out most of the day and again on Weds, so hopefully that will be another 2 days got through. I've not nibbled today either, so am hoping that I won't put on too much weight this time. Hopefully all the digging I'm going to be doing at the allotment will help on that front too! Maz. XX

And do you know I don't even want one, I did think about it after I had had my lunch today but had a glass of water and got on with my work and the moment past, I have even thought about it since I've been home, I could easily get one off my mum but then I think but why would I want to i haven't had one all day whats the point! Just going to have my tea, would love to know how everyone's day has been? alaina

Hi Maz - so glad to see you haven't caved in I was wondering how you were doing yesterday but I figured you would report in soon, and you are right not having them about the house is easier unfortunately in my case everybody is smoking around me arrrh but I think I'm doing bl**dy well to put up with it. When I was at my sisters yesterday I could easily have had one but her OH hand rolls his own and will point blank refuse to roll them for anyone else!!! It felt so good though yesterday playing with my 3 year old niece and not having to say hang Lucy while I finish this! Anyway better get to work See ya all later Al xx

still on the waggon - although gawd knows I could easily have caved today. if someone had offered me one I would have taken it! not having any in the house is definitely the best way to do it - temptation is not under yer nose then. good on you Alaina - now you have done 1 day you can do another (and another and another etc etc) Snow White - don't let those 7 weeks go to waste, if you had one now it would taste HORRIBLE and you would be so angry with yourself. You should be proud that you have done so well - keep it up!! Maz. XX

Hi Guys Been up since 8, been to the car boot sale and then went to see my very pregnant little sister and helped her and her OH dig their garden up as they are looking to start a veggie patch and have not had 1 cig all day not even thought about it. Am I turning the corner? I think so! Well done Gwen 17 days is excellent keep it up you can do it, Carol thank you for your encouraging words, words like that are keeping me going! I had another look through my Smokefree booklet today and found out why I seem to have had a really bad dry mouth all week, apparently I am getting this is a sign that my Lungs are clearing of tar, I have also got a cough which is another sign of this. The dizziness is going now though which means more oxygen is getting to my brain (this is probably why I can't seem to spell anything at the moment lol) and I seem to be alot more hungry than I was before but I am eating healthy so on the up side I will have lost some more weight at class next week! Going to go enjoy the sun now smoke free! Have a lovely afternoon peeps Hugs Alaina xx

Nudge lol - keep losing the thread! Where have all my fellow non smokers gone? nobody as reported in since 11.30 this morning! I've had a good day today, I think I'm finally breaking that habit of thinking where are my fags! I have had a couple today but they have left a big lump of crap in my throat and I didn't even enjoy them, I'm not going to have any at all tomorrow that is it now, I'm going into 2nd week so need to get in the mind set that even having 1 is not allowed, it is hard but its getting easier! love Alaina xxx

Hello Irishgirl:o)) Sorry l did'nt get to see your message til now. l just made up my mind one day that it was my last packet and that was that. l chewed gum or nibbled on nuts etc, put on abit of weight, not too bad though, although it seemed alot at the time, it went on quite slowly. l also kept myself as busy as possible. About 8 mths later l was upset about something and decided to buy a packet of 10 (kept telling myself how much l enjoyed them), smoked 3, first one was ok but the others were'nt, told hubby when l got home and let him rip them up and that was that - 4 yrs in Oct. l'm usually a weak person, but kept telling myself that it was going to be easy - and it was the media that made it seem hard etc - it worked for me. l think some poeple expect it to be hard (not everyone) so it becomes that way - but then everyone is different. Tell yourself 'this is easy peasy' but don't beat yourself up if you can't. Take one day at a time ok:o))) nite nite jude x

Hi Alaina I know how you feel hun. I have had so much sh*te happen over the last 2 days where I would normally just grab a fag for comfort. If the kids hadn't been off school I may very well have gone out and bought some, so thank goodness they are here. Also I had to pay out £240 on my boiler yesterday, so I can't exactly afford to go back to it now. The only problem is that all the money I thought I would save over gawd knows how long of not smoking has just disappeared in one hit :-( Whoever has upset you is not worth it - you are stronger and bigger than them - just pick it back up from now and believe in yourself. (((hugs))) for you luv Maz. XX

Hi Guys I have a confession to make, since I got home at 7.30 tonight I have smoked 6 cigs, these are the only cigs i have had all day and there is a reason for me having these 6 cigs that i don't want to bore you with, i now feel sick and I've got what I can only describe as a nasty lump of crap in my throat which serves me damn right grrr. I wouldn't mind but I have had a really stressful day and have even been to the pub twice (at lunchtime and after work for 2 hours) and I have not touch'd one single cig or even wanted one single cig since I got up this morning I am so mad with myself and the person that made me feel so low that I felt the need to walk into a shop and ask for a 10 pack. All I can say to you all is I'm sorry and I promise I will be as good as gold over the weekend, i don't want to go backward I want to go forwards and I am going to do it, i have now given the remaining 4 cigs to the bin (broken in to little pieces) and put another patch on so I should be ok now, i had a weak moment because of said person but I will not, I repeat not let it beat me. And i hope nobody gives me a lecture because I really do know I what I have done and I will turn it around! AA xxxx

Well I feel like a right let down ,I have let myself down and my kids. This last 2 weeks have been hard for my family (mum and brother have had probs)and it is still not over yet(brother has to go back to court in 10 days....long story......and I have gone back up to about 12 a day. I shall make a conscious effort to cut down again and will pick another day to quit. Well done to everyone else Sue x

James Report 13 Apr 2007 09:16

Good Morning/afternoon girls When I became a non smoker about 10 years ago I found for me the 24 hour patches was the best for me. I used to smoke 40 a day for 40 years. Smoking is mainly a habit, the brain says I have not had my FIX and sends signals to the hand, so if you have any cigarettes around the the temptation to smoke will be nearly iresistable, which is the reason you must try and get rid of any that you have, try and avoid the shop where normally buy them until you have progressed further along the line of not smoking. It is also best to try and get rid of any ashtrays or keep one with cigarette ends in it and a few drops of water when you feel the temptation have a smell of it and it should help you to resist Keep posting on here then you will get the support of the others and will not want to let them down.
