Julie , Have to ask this , did you just stop or did you have help? Does anyone else in your home smoke ? I have three here . I even took the drugs given by my Dr . They worked for 3 months , but were originally prescribed for depression . The side effect is a loss of nicotine adiction. Thats why they gave it to smokers who were trying to give up.Problem was , if like me you were,nt depressed it totally screwed up your head ... Kim xx

Kim I had been thinking about it for a while now. One Sunday i woke up with a real bad headache which lasted for 2 day. I had no ciggies for those 2 days, so when headache went it was the thought of lighting that 1st one made me feel sick, so i didn't do it. my OH Smokes, but cos he doesn't smoke Bensons it doesn't bother me. I went on the patches, which also helped the cravings. Julie

Hi Kim Hi Julie :):) Thank you for your messages :):) Julie :) I think you are possibly right with that 100% feeling, on this occassion I feel so positive towards not smoking. To be honest I have been sat here a while now thinking about tomorrow and I cannot even be bothered to light up a ciggie. In the past I would be at pure panic stage now :):) Kim :):) I hope you do not mind me asking, but was it possibly Zyban you used before. I tried them once and they did me no good at all. There is a percentage that they do not work on apparantly. Never give up wanting to give up though as that also made me smoke less in the past even if it was only for days at a time. I have found that the new tablets called Champix are being a great help to me this week and no side effects either. Colin :):)

Hi guys and gals, How are we all doing? I'm doing ok to say I had to sit in a cloud of smoke yesterday! was sat watching the telly at about 6ish and my mum, mum's boyf and SIL were all smoking around me it was awful ended up having to go outside to get a breath of fresh air! it did not make me want to join them though it was hurting my lungs just passive smoking. i have been dropping hints and coughing really loudly but nobody seems to be taking any notice of me! Oh well at least i can have a break at work today, I wouldn't mind but my mum's boyfriend has been told by his doctor that he has to stop and he has taken no notice! Anyway gotta go to work, have a great day! Alaina xxx

Hi Alaina, sorry to here about your situation, at least you are holding out, maybe when the 1st of July comes it might wake them up, could you get a small tv for your room? or actively look for a place of your own? a bit extreme but it is your long term health at risk. Perhaps there will be a large influx of people trying to quit then!!! James.

Hi All how is everyone doing, has Maz manage to quit yet? Having the quit meter is a very good support to quit smoking, marking off each day on the calender is another thing. James

Hi Snow White 95 days is over 3 months, How long have you been smoking and how ,amy a day? Have you had the pneumonia long? once you are over that then your breathing should start to improve, a lot of colds are cause because the lungs are clearing out. Your hair should not be smelling of smoke, your senses of taste and smell will be better, your skin and gums will improve because of the extra oxygen circulating in your blood James

Hi All :) :) Well its a week now since my day of quitting and I am on my way. I suppose in a way I have been lucky in that a couple of the first days I was zonked out in hospital so missed the full nicotine withdrawl. I m still taking the champix at the moment as this is also part of the no smoking course. I am unable to smoke at least for another two weeks even if I wanted one which I dont so hopefully I will now stay a non smoker :):):) Colin :):)

Hi All Jeanie well done and happy 100 days xxx I have fallen off the wagon I'm afraid, I am currently staying with my friend in Germany and I think I'm just in that situation where this is not my reality and I think I can get away with it, but I am going to keep giving up just because i have had a slip doesn't mean this is the end of the road for me I will keep fighting!!! James I have been reading what you have put recently and although I do not want to fall out with anybody on GR please can I ask that you back off a little bit? you gave up smoking 9 years ago which is a real achievement and although your advice has been helpful it as also been for me a bit overpowering, I feel that I get a lecture everytime I slip up and I don't really want or need that, I am a grown women and i am very independent I know what I am doing to myself with every cig I have or have had I really don't need to be told over and over. Like I said I do not want to fall out so please do not take this friendly request the wrong way. Everybody as given up for different reasons and I feel at the end of the day everyone's reason as been different and I really don't think that everyone has to justify them selves to somebody they have never met it is very intrusive alaina xxx
