Today's update - 2 little bluetit heads appeared at the box opening. There has been much flapping of wings. They still seem too small to leave, but one really lary one stuck its head right out of the opening! Will keep you posted. Angela btw saw a baby greenfinch at our feeders today.

Hello Angela, Sounds like something happening there doesn't it? I wonder if all the eggs have hatched? Mum and dad will be really busy feeding now, hence all the flapping and comming and going. LLx

Angela, I would love to see them. They must be sooo tiny. The parents are small to start with, so can't imagine how small chicks must be. I'm jealous!!! Enjoy while you can, they'll be off before you know it.lolx LL

Well.. at about 9.15 this morning they decided they could wait no longer! There were 5 of them, all looking very healthy & flying well. One almost flew into me on its way to the bush. They hung around for a little while with one parent keeping a watchful eye. I haven't seen them this afternoon, but keep popping out to our feeders. I'm really glad I saw them leave, it was marvellous & they were so beautiful, although I will miss watching the box. Angela

They're back at our feeders! I've been watching the babies on the branches of our trees, screeching for food, and the parents feeding them - magical! They can feed themselves, but have their lazy moments. Angela

Hello All, Well I have had a few days off from GR, but am glad to see you all still posting your birdwatching experiences. I have been looking all over for thistle seeds to try to attract different types of birds into my garden. The obvious place (so I thought) was pet shops....No joy ay the ones I tried. Wednesday was hubby's day off, so we went to a few garden centres, and low and behold, Yes you guessed..I got my thistle seeds. But, then the weather changed, so, I haven't been able to put any on the table as yet. The bad weather hasn't stop the birds from comming though. I have had the usual blue tits, great tits, pigeons, Magpies and Starlings. I have also had sparrows that have only just started to come to the table, Oh, and the squirrel has been back again. Thought we only had the one Squirrel, but, actually saw its mate in neighbours garden today whilst other was pinching peanuts from my hanging feeder. LLx

Thought I needed to bring this thread out again. Appologies if your not into birds but....... My hubby saw a woodpecker in the central garden area today. I didn't see it, but hope it comes back What are the chances of it comming into the garden? And what do they eat? I would love to attract this bird into the garden. BUGGS are you about? Advice please. LLx
