Remember the other thread I put up about trying to attract blue tits into my garden? Well, I have finally had a pair that has been 2 or three times now. It started with just one comming taking one seed from tray and flying off (all at the blink of an eye). Now I have two comming and wether they are a pair or adult and young I dont know, but they looked like they were 'kissing'. They stayed for quite a while. I am well chuffed.xx LL

LL This is a serious response. I added to your original thread. Well done! I spend hours watching the birds in my garden. Try putting nyger seed in your feeders & you will attract goldfinches. They are gorgeous, black & yellow with red heads! I have several regularly visiting my garden. Angela

LL I buy it in a 'local' greengrocer, but have seen it in some pet shops. It's thistle seed I think. Angela

Hi Carol, I know. Still getting mostly starlings, but am well chuffed about the tits. I have had pigeons, house sparrows, hedge sparrows, Magpies, but it was tits I wanted most. LL

Angela, Sorry to sound 'thick' but what does it look like? do all greengrocers sell it? I would feel a bit daft if I walked in and asked for it and they asked me what it was, and I said I dont know. lol LL

Hi LL I had loads of starlings til about a month ago, then they disappeared! (Good job, they were eating me out of house and home!) If you have trouble buying various bird foods, try the RSPB website (www.rspb*org) or google wiggly wigglers. Angela

Hi Caz, When my youngest son was only a nipper, me and huby used to take him bird watching. My hubby and son know quite a bit about birds. I know a bit but not as much as them. LL

LL Nyger seed looks like black 'hundreds & thousands'. (if you know what they are!!!!) My greengrocer sells it in plastic bags, ready weighed. Angela

Thanks Angela, Will do. The starlings are definately greedy so and so's. They are mad for those coconut shells and fat balls mainly. LL

LL Are you in the east of the country? I think that's where our starlings disappeared to?? Angela
