I have contributed, or tried to, but I've never received much response, guess that makes me boring too, lol! Also, 'interesting' threads such as debates on possibly controversial subjects, are often deleted because a) the originator gets worried that it will turn into a slanging match, or b) it DOES turn into a slanging match. There have been many debates on here in the past, however, which have not turned nasty and have made for very interesting discussion. |

I think it's become dumbed down and boring and for the most part no more than a glorified chat board - nay forget the glorified! Every now and then there's a spark of something interesting that's worth reading but often it's lost in a sea of dross - happy dross, maybe, but still dross. Mags x |

Hayley, don't delete, this is a good thread. As people have said, if they think the board is boring, chat etc then let them add something stimulating. people still add to all sorts of threads. if it has an 'off' day, that is as far as my likes are concerned, I go and do something else. I think for most of us, gone are the days that the boards are the be all and end all for most of us. Sheila, keep trying, I like to see your comments to threads (Kim, Sheila has been around a long time, even though you may not have seen her), you always have a valid opinion. I think there is a place for all sorts on here, serious, funny and just plain daft threads. some don't appeal to me, but that is fine, I read the title and a couple of replies then don't bother to go on that thread any more. Some of the funny threads have me laughing out loud. In fact there was one on tips that started as serious thread and ended up being very funny, a really good tonic. So let us not criticise, let us try and input the subjects and threads we want to the board. And, if a serious debate gets zapped, let's start another one, meanwhile trying not to provoke too much. we usually know the sort of things that will upset people so maybe if we think and read before we add we can avoid people's threads being zapped. Most of all, don't get disheartened, develop a thick skin, if a thread doesn't take off, try pushing it yourself, often it has just been overlooked, and if it still doesn't take off, try another subject. If a thread is not supported it usually is not personal. Ann Glos |

I'm not sure it's any happier but there are less rows, I think, which is good. I do find it a bit dull at times but if I can't think of anything to add I'm adding to the dullness, aren't I? Everybody who pays has a right to add but I sometimes get mildly peeved when interesting stuff is pushed off the board quite quickly by threads containing personal conversations. Maybe that's why I don't add so much. But I can always find something else to do Gwynne |

also i read many threads like dawnies, and enjoy them but dont often reply,or hoffs ,i enjoy them when all the girls are giving him grief.lol.but i dont often add. like i say each to there own.and if a thead gets knocked down the board then nudge it back up.theres room for everyone.and from what i can see peeps like it all calm.so we all need to make an effort to think of others, and respect there wishes.xx |

Not wishing to be provocative at all but yes, perhaps I could think of an interesting and stimulating thread to add if I find the board boring, which I do for the most part, but what would be the point? There are those that would turn any thread into either a personal conversation or a 'fun' thread and the original subject is lost. I think the pivotal point in deciding to read and add very rarely was seeing a thread by Len of The Chilterns, who offers some extremely thought provoking and interesting subjects to ponder on, turned into a 'fun fest', Why would anyone feel the need to do that? Not everyone finds that sort of 'fun' amusing. I like a laugh but I'd like to think I'd got a bit more respect than that. Mags x |
