Thank you for your thoughts and observations.
I really can't see why the same thread has to feature so many times in the search :-S

Having been here so long, there are quite a lot of My Threads to go through too, so finding what I want is probably going to be through perseverance or chance ;-)

Go to My threads and then choose either My threads - started by me or My threads - 'contributed to.

May narrow it down a bit

I've had the same problem and there doesn't seem to be a simple solution. You can narrow it down a bit by using "my threads" but the best results I have had have been pure luck - by using Google! :-) Good luck.

I was just searching for an old thread, where I remember posting and so put a place name in the Search box.
Up came pages and pages of 'hits'

In the first 7 pages, there were over 100 for the same thread :-S

Is there a way of refining this, so that I don't have to trawl through so many unnecessary matches, please?
