There has been discussions in several papers about what you want playing whilst on your death bed and the music to play as the curtains close in the crem.

I asked OH if he wanted me to play his Leonard Cohen record whilst he was dying ( he’s not). They are an awful dirge. He said perhaps not unless he wanted to be alone in which case I could as they would clear the room :-D

Presumably as the curtain closes, but would they have wanted that playing on repeat whilst dying?
Sometimes I think a title is appropriate then I read the lyrics. For the death bed I think Eddie cCochrans 'three steps to heaven' would be a good choice - but only the first verse
Now there are three steps to heaven
Just listen and you will plainly see
And as life travels on
And things do go wrong
Just follow steps one, two and three

Mine will be 'Fire' by the Crazy World of Arthur Brown. And yes I am serious I have it written down in my final wishes it matches with my weird sense of humour :-D

I've been toying with a few leaving party songs for a while.... Air by the Incredible String Band for the entrance and My Sweet Lord for the closing but may have to scratch that as I wouldn't like anyone to assume I'd 'returned to the flock' and miss the Hare Krishna.
Current favourite for the walk out is 'Rainy Day Women' by Bob Dylan.
Death bed has to be a choice selection of videos of The Mavericks, headphones on and cranked up to max :-D

No death bed music for me, please.
On the off chance that some family might be with me, I'd want to hear them chatting together or to me without background music.

Curtain music would be up to them.

My entrance will be These were the days of our lives by Queen one of our favourites as it was the last song Freddie Mercury performed and he was my idol :-) I also want to fit in Who wants to live forever also by Queen.

I’m with Gwyn on no death bed music. Imagine having your choice quietly playing and someone in the room doesn’t like it and puts on something abominable.

When my mum passed and we were all at the graveside, we chose her fav. In the Mood by Glen Miller. We also had Over The Rainbow by Eva Cassidy <3

When my best friend passed in her early 50's, she had "Going up to the Spirit in the sky" by Dr & The medics and we all clapped and danced in the church as it was played just as she wanted it <3

After the trauma of organising his brothers funeral my OH and I are quite happy with the idea of no service and no one going to wave us off,

Even though BIL had planned all the service it was dreadful having to plan around everyone’s preferred dates, due to work and travel and then what seemed like hordes saying they wanted to come. Oddly, the hordes I am referring to kept to themselves and never spoke to the family.

Oh, and covid was looming.

I've said for years that The Show Must Go On by Queen for me, on condition it's played at full blast or it's wasted.

Dance Me by Leonard Cohen would feature at some point, and I'd need a bit of Alice Cooper singing I Never Cry as well

But I'm not in any rush for my ideas to come to fruition!

agingrocke, the sound system at our local crem is fab..... I just knew my late beloved sound man would approve.

LaGooner, I'd go further and say any music should be full volume. My ridiculously wide taste in music covers punk, heavy metal, classical and everything in between (apart from Ed Sheeran) and it's all best when it's loud!

Island does your local crematorium hire out a room for parties? ???? Asking for a friend!

The all singing F/Ds in the next town offers a hospitality room within the premises for the bun fight after. I wouldn't know how popular it is but doesn't appeal to me :-0

No death bed music for me either. I will leave it up to my family to decide on any other but hopefully they will choose one of my many favourite hymns.
