LB. hoping you relatives manage to stay safe, such a terrible worry for so many people. Cant imagine what it would feel like, knowing something so devastating is heading towards where you live. Terrifying!

Thinking of your relatives and all others caught up in it. There will be a lot of holiday makers from UK and other european countries and it must be terrifying not knowing what to do or where to go.

I have three cousins that live in Florida :-(

Two have properties on the west side. One of which is in Michigan at the mo as they tend to go to their property there during the hurricane season

The other is on the east side. Normally it is just windy as the hurricanes tend to go up the west coast but on this occasion Milton is going to go across the State :-(

What concerns them on the west coast is not just the strength of the wind but the storm surge of the sea :-(. For one the surge got within 18 inches during Helene but it sounds that it will be more severe for them with Milton :-(

Let's pray Milton will not turn out to be as bad as they think :-0 <3

This has to be the worse hurricane in recent years. We have 100 mph winds here but....we don't have high buildings or the amount of people like Florida does.

Hoping & praying that people have managed to leave and find a place of safety before it makes landfall which will be truly devastating!

It's a worrying situation :-(

I feel for all those caught up in this and all those worrying about the safety of loved ones.

We have been watching recent events, as grandson was holidaying in Florida recently.
He was there at the tail end of the last hurricane, but unaffected.

A news programme was saying this morning that the storms are increasing in intensity, because they pick up 'power' from the oceans. As the temperature of the water rises due to global warming, so the storm passing over it becomes stronger and more powerful and destructive, especially when it reaches land.

Millions of people are scrambling to leave Florida in the final hours of calm before the 'storm of the century' is set to demolish the state's coastline - with trapped locals and holidaymakers told it may be too late for them to flee.

The state is holding its breath as category-5 Hurricane Milton is set to devastate the Tampa region later today with forecasters warning 15-foot floods and 175 miles-per-hour winds will almost certainly lay waste to huge swathes of land.

School districts were closed, businesses shut down and mandatory evacuation orders were issued for some six million people as weather officials declared the tempest could be one of the most destructive hurricanes on record.


Did we ever think that we would see such a report in our life time? I certainly didn't and I have holidayed in Florida during early October some years ago.
