Well, presumably that is Marble Arch down on the left hand side.

It is all hotels and car showrooms down there now, but I cannot remember a statue in the middle of the road.

Maybe it was moved into Hyde Park. :-S

Ah saw the car showrooms….and I think some sort of war animal memorial on the other side…..would presume that monument would be in the middle of a dual carriageway now…..wonder what it was about and where did it go :-0

That is correct Ann, a statue of all the animals that took part in the War.

Park Lane is very wide now, and there is like a grass verge in the middle of the road. There are various underpasses to access the little 'park' in the middle.

Very grand, innit? :-)
