After all the rain, we have no water - due to a 'lack of water'!

But I'm sure the hierarchy and shareholders aren't affected, so all is well.

Not the wrong sort of rain, the pumps failed.

Mind you, I am expecting a hosepipe ban in the summer.

I thought that your area in general had had more rain than usual :-S

It's all over Winchester, Gwyn.
It started off with 2 roads without water, and just spread - randomly!
One end of a road had water, the other end didn't.
They've had to deliver tankers of water to the hospital.

Oh no Maggie, hope you get bottled water delivered to you soon until the water has been restored. So terrible when that happens. I would rather be without electricity than water.

I phoned them last evening, and got put on the 'vulnerable' list.
Found 48 small bottles of water on my doorstep, this morning!

I also phoned my neighbour, and a person where I used to live, last night,
as they're not on the internet, and needed the number to phone.

Water's back on now - but we're to expect possible further 'outages'.
They reckon it'll be fixed by 16 January

Glad you have it back on now. Its the flushing of the toilet that takes so much water.

Once when we were without, it took 6 bottles, 1l each before the toilet would flush!! And of course you have to run the water for ages if its brown/cloudy. Such a nuisance.

I find the water butt and a bucket very useful when the water is off.
We had so much water in buckets during the all that rain that we saved on or water bill ;-)

Names, I asked my children to buy me a water butt for Christmas, mainly for this reason :-D
Unfortunatel, I haven't put it up yet it's been too wet, or too cold.

I see on South Today that there are still lots of problems.

Went to town today - a 15 minute bus ride - which took over 20 minutes.
I noticed - I wasn't looking out for them, but they caused traffic problems, as they were in the road - 6 huge water tankers pumping water into pipes, and at least 4 holes being dug by the water company!

That's just one area north of Winchester!

Makes you think the 'technical problem' was a lack of upkeep for 25 years!

Not only is it ironic to have no water after so much rain, it's doubly ironic in Winchester, because there are streams that run under the city - that regularly cause flooding!! :-S
