When will the 1921 Census be available on Genes Reunited??? Many other genealogy groups already have access to it.

I am seriously considering cancelling my subscription here, and going elsewhere...

It is held exclusively by Findmypast.

Any genealogy group could have access it is just that they must have a sub or group sub to FMP as Rambling says.

....FMP is still the only site to offer access, but even if you have a sub to that site, you have to pay extra unless you have the most expensive one.

names ........... I don't think FMP have released it to other sites yet, they still have the only access because they were responsible for the transcribing.

I would expect Ancestry to be the next genealogy site to gain access, and presumably they will want to have their own transcribing done, as they did for the 1939 Register.

As Robert used the term groups I read that to mean. groups not sites :-S

How to access the 1921 census
The 1921 census for England and Wales is now available on Findmypast via Findmypast's newly introduced Premium subscription package. The Premium package costs £199.99 for 12 months (or £16.67 per month). Any existing subscribers who wish to upgrade can do so on a pro-rata basis. Existing 12-month Pro subscribers, who benefitted from a 10% loyalty discount on 1921 Census purchases, can upgrade to the Premium subscription for just £19.99. Findmypast subscribers on other subscription tiers can view the census records for micropayments of £2.50 per transcription or £3.50 per image. Sometimes Findmypast do half price offers for short periods.

However, access to the 1921 Census online at Findmypast is free on the premises at The National Archives in Kew. You can access the Census via the on site computers, on site tablet devices or your own device (e.g. smartphone) while you are connected to the Wi-Fi in the dedicated 20sPeople zone.

The 1921 census will be exclusively available on Findmypast for up to three years (until 2025), after which The National Archives (TNA) will be able to set up deals with other partners such as Ancestry, TheGenealogist or MyHeritage. As with previous record digitisation projects, such as the 1911 census release, Findmypast owns its transcription but the copyright for the images is with TNA. This means, when the exclusive relationship comes to an end, other competitors will have to license the images from TNA and the transcription from Findmypast (or, as Ancestry and TheGenealogist did with 1911, create their own transcription).

most of us only use GR for the chat boards , or because we have our trees on GR - though usually have a copy elsewhere as well.

Other sites are better for researching records - eg - Ancestry, FMP, and others.

Robert If you don't want the sub that covers the 1921, then work out the 'priority' people you are looking for and everything you know about them first, eg where they were in 1911 and 1939, area they lived, who they might have been living with at the time, and use that to pinpoint the likeliest entry before purchasing it individually.
