It is being suggested that we could soon be living to 130/140. What would the pension age then have to go up to?

The thought of living that long ( too old for it to. Punt for me) fills me with horror.

Given the rate that 'things' sieze up, stop working, fall off; There wouldn't be much left of the original 'us' I reckon. and they would probably do away with pensions if too many lived that long.

Ooh Island, the wrinkles!! :-D :-D :-D

I'm not too worried about getting lots more wrinkles as I reckon I soon won't be able to see them ;-)

I use my creams everyday and up til now have few wrinkles but....at 130 I think the skin would be so saggy no cream on earth could fix that.

Our bones and vital organs are not made to live to 130 etc yes with good diets and exercise, maybe a few more living to say 105. Not sure how we could still be working say to 90??

We would need far more care homes and as for pensions, they probably wont exist by then as the pot will be empty.

I would be happy to reach 85 plus maybe 90 but after that, life wouldnt be as good once the hips and knees have gone!

Failing eyesight is natures way of sparing us from the sight of wrinkles. ;-) :-D

I haven't seen the article but I dare say there is some reference to the ageing process being much later.
There was a time (so I read) when life expectancy was about 30 years. Much improved healthier living and health care have given us much greater peace time life expectancy so no reason why further improvements shouldn't take us past a healthy 100 years.

I think that the latest figures, for the UK, show that life expectancy has dropped by a couple of years, hence allowing the Government to delay a retirement age increase.

I am doing my best to get as much pension from the government as possible.

Island, I am short-sighted so I can see all of my wrinkles clearly. Others, that bit further away, seem always to have smoother skin. :-D ;-)

I wonder if it works the other way round for long-sighted people. :-D

When I was a child I remember you lived for three score and ten or so everyone was saying and that has stayed in my mind all these years so at 72 I am living on borrowed time, although my dear mum did live till she was 96. I’m lucky no wrinkles on my face but on my arms are aweful and no one has mentioned middle age spread I have got that in abundance :-( :-(
