PIP Reviews

Is anyone waiting for a review of their PIP.?
My last review was in 2019 and then lockdown came. My next review was due in Aug 2021 but all I keep getting is text messages saying, your review will be looked at soon.

I needed an up to date award letter as I'm applying for a Blue Badge. So I telephoned the DWP and 1 hour later eventually spoke to a young man who informed me that he couldn't say when I would get a face to face assessment as they are so behind.

I did tell him, I live in a remote rural village and didn't think their would be as many reviews to do here as on the mainland! So they will continue to pay the same award ufn but my needs have changed and so I would qualify for the higher amount of daily living now.

So nothing I can do. I have contacted the dept for the Blue Badge and they will except the last review with an explanation from me which will be fine.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

I was lucky in that my review was due during lockdown, got postponed, finally had to submit the review forms and received an ongoing, 'light touch' award, without having a face to face.

My issues are mental rather than physical health related, don't know if that made any difference.

I'm on the lower award for both categories, and that's unlikely to change, so was very glad to escape the face to face, or phone, or whatever.

I thought in Scotland, the PIP was in the process of being replaced by something else?

Yes, it is, as part of devolution. Florence would seem to fall in this category.

From June 2022, Social Security Scotland will move your PIP to Adult Disability Payment if you are both:

due a review of your PIP with DWP
living in Perth and Kinross, Dundee or the Western Isles

This is the link if you want to read the whole thing.

Thanks Andy's mum, I had heard that PIP would be changing over. But I notified DWP of my changes last Aug when I completed the review and am still awaiting an assessment!

My daily living needs have changed and will probably put me on the higher amount instead of the lower amount. However, they said if that is the case, my monies would be back dated to Jul 2019 when I first notified them of the changes.

That should add up to a nice lump sum when you eventually get it. :-)

Yes, I was thinking that too. All good things comes to those that wait, so they say :-D

Have just posted off my daughter's review, quite a marathin form plus the addtional information sheets we submitted.
It was originally due for review today, as it happens, got extended to next July during lockdown, but then they chased it it and wanted it by today, thereby cancelling the extension period.
But DWP have also, on the phone, that they are "rather busy" and it could take a year for them to process it !!!!

BrianW, my last actual review was in Jul 2019!! They extended it to Jul 2021 because of Covid. I have been told they are sooo busy they cannot say when I will get my review.

But I will say, that if your daughter's needs have changed or she has been in hospital since the last review, you must telephone and inform them of what has changed. I did this last Jul when i suddenly lost the use of my leg. The reason is simply, if you have informed them by phone of any change which could affect the payments, you will get anything due backdated to when you inform them. Do not wait until an actual review in person to tell them of any changes.

Also when I spent 2 days in hospital, I didnt realise I was supposed to have let them know!

Fingers crossed for you but i dont expect my review to happen anytime soon especially as they are changing over to a new Adult Disability payment and that will take ages to get it all sorted but at least our payments will continue ufn.
