Is what it used to be called and was used for pressing bits of leftover bars of soap to make a new one. Anyone know if they are still available, I had one years ago but not any more and would like to get another one. |

There is a thing called a Soap Saver on Etsey but I don't know if it's what you are looking for. |

Thank you ladies, but alas it isn't what I'm looking for, I already have left over soap that I would like to press into a new one. |

Can you melt all the pieces, then mix and pour into a container. Then you can cut into small rectangular bars to use? |

There are several videos on youtube about it. The simplest seems to be to put the pieces in a polythene then and microwave it for a short time. Then prod it a bit and repeat the microwaving and prodding, several times until it can be squashed into a ball. Cool it under a tap and remove the bag. |

The soap saver on Etsy, mentioned by Kath, unfortunately comes from the US, so costs a fortune in postage. |

I used to make the soap as soft as possible and insert it into some old spice roll on cases .multi coloured soap....on the other hand I recall in the public baths in Balaam Street all the soap leftovers went into a mop n bucket, used to swill out the baths and cubicles |

I don't remember that name but I had one too in the70s. I think it was from Lakeland at that time. It was grey plastic and a beefburger shape! You filled it with soap bits to the top and gradually tightened the screw top till it formed a new tablet. I might even still have mine, but goodness knows where it is! |
