Does anyone know of any current Ancestry offers please? My worldwide subs run out on the 29th of this month.don't mind going back to Ancestry u.k if it works out cheaper. Many thanks.

Sign out of Ancestry, then Google the various English-speaking Ancestry sites:

Compare the price each of them is offering new members, and compare also to the renewal price you've been offered..

If you're changing to a different one, (or even staying with the present site) join as a new member - you'll need to use a different email address, but can keep using your existing password.

Remember to cancel your current subscription at least two days before the expiry date , in order to avoid auto-renewal - although you can still use the account until the expiry date.

Don't cancel the account - only the subscription. You will then remain as a guest member and won't lose your Ancestry tree if you have one, though you won't be able to access records after the end of the present subscription period. You can resubscribe to the account in future, if you want to.

Keep a note of the different email addresses, user names, or passwords you use in case you want to return to the original account later.

Be aware of what the postage cost is.

A year ago I complained to the ASA as Ancestry was advertising £10 off the sub but failed to mention that the postage charge has gone up by £10.

The advert was removed.

I think you mean Ancestry DNA, where postage is payable for a DNA kit .


No postage is involved in just joining Ancestry online, or paying a sub.

Sorry, I should have made it clear that it was DNA.

But it gave me doubts about Ancestry ethics overall.

The link to half price Ancestry still works my friend used it last week, all you have to do is cancel you sub a few days before wait until you sub has expired plus a couple of days (I usually wait 3 days).

Sign into your account and leave the window open, then click onto the link then click onto get started to get the deal. As long as you have not got an active sub you can use the same account. (you may have to sign into your account via the ancestry.uk)

Also, there is a way that you can still see records on Ancestry when your sub has expired.

If you have not got a photo saved then save a photo (any photo) to the person you want to look at.

Go to the persons profile then click on gallery, click onto the photo first then onto the arrows to the right or left the image of the record should come up you can even make it bigger by clicking on the magnifier icon to the top right of the image. If you click onto the view original image on the side bar you will get the sub info, also the same if you click onto a record in the gallery. You must click onto a photo in the persons gallery first and go sideways to get images for records. If you have records with more than 1 page you will only see the first page. To save an image of the record just right click and save as to put into the folder you want.

Thanks everyone for your replies I cancelled my worldwide subs too expensive to continue at the moment, daughter had done it through her email address.and I could only access it through my tablet and not on big computer, not sure how she did it!
