When my grandchildren were young, they made crackers from empty kitchen roll tubes wrapped in Xmas paper and tied with tinsel for their parents’ Xmas gifts. Usually we made sweets - more often than not, peppermint creams and covered half of them in chocolate before putting them into those small cellophane starry bags (Sainsburys had them) to put inside the crackers. The children wrote out a joke in their own handwriting and usually came up with something extra, such as the note our granddaughter once slipped inside the cracker, saying, ‘IOU one chore’. |

JoyL ................... when my daughter was in her teens, I used to buy a new pair of frilly panties (knickers) for her, or sometimes a pair of socks or knee highs with a daft pattern on them. Then I would make a Christmas cracker out of an empty toilet paper roll, cover it with Christmas paper, etc, and put it in her stocking. |
