Hot Flushes!

I went through the menopause over 6 years ago. I actually was very lucky and sailed through it fairly easily.I had a few hot flushes mainly at night and one or 2 during the day for about a year without any other problems.

After a year with no periods, i undertook the hormone tests which showed my levels at over 60. A normal healthy woman who is still ovulating would have a level of around 10 at 20yrs, 15 say at 25 and so on. The figure sharply rises the older a woman gets until she reaches the menopause.

For about a year before my heart surgery in 2020, I started experiencing hot flushes again worse than before. My GP actually thought it was related to my heart problem so I left it and put up with them.

After my surgery I still had some but eventually they stopped. About 3 months ago, I started experiencing the hot flushes again and far worse than they had ever been.

So I am wondering if there are any ladies on here who have experienced the same situation and have you had it investigated through your gp?

My GP did say then when you have a hot flush during the menopause, it is the body trying to kickstart the ovaries again one last time before they finally stop ovulating.

If there are any men who have had their wives experience this problem and have any information to share, please feel free to contribute.

Florence ..............

I was similar to you, only had minor hot flushes, certainly none enough to "steam up the car" as one of my friends had. No other symptoms.

I've experienced similar mild hot flushes, usually at night. at odd times over the almost 30 years since then. They happen only 2 or 3 times a year, and I've never bothered asking the doctor about them.

Florence61 all I can say is I've had hot flushes, night sweats, and all the other menopausal symptoms for the last 20 years, I've tried most of the homeopathy remedies all work for a while, haven't been takin anything for years, just getting worse, getting a GP appointment is impossible (not sure what they're actually doing)? Have high cholesterol, rang up today for results of blood test couldn't get past receptionist!! Hope you manage to get to see your GP and they can help you.i should add I'm hot most of the time, and husband says it's like sleeping next to a radiator full on! I've got Windows permanently open (even in the middle of winter), leg out of bed, I feel most comfortable outside during the day.

Thank you ladies for your replies. I refused HRT as I didn't need it and hate medicines unless absolutely necessary.
