There have been several threads on here from people who have sent a PM and it hasn't been opened .

I have the "opposite" case. I received a PM from someone wanting me to open my tree and giving me just the name of the ancestor.

As the person was a distant relation I answered it, giving a couple of details and asking the sender how she was connected. I didn't open my tree.

This was over a week ago and my reply hasn't been opened!!

It doesn't bother me, but I am rather puzzled. :-S :-S :-S

I was contacted many months ago with a similar request - it sounded promising so i opened my tree for her. As the reply hadn't been opened after several months I deleted it only to receive a rather angry request again several weeks later. I replied to explain what I had done, but again this wasn't opened so I have now deleted it again. Just hope I don't get another somewhat rude response - why do people bother asking if they can't be bothered to look at what has been generously sent to them?

Maybe they didn’t open the reply just checked to see if the tree had been added to their list of shared trees.

I would have left the reply and cancelled the access to the tree. Not that I share.my full tree anyway.. I will, however, share a relevant section.

I wonder if she reads this board?

Anyway I had a reply just now, giving me very little extra information, just the name of the man she married.

As I have no idea who/if mine married, I have replied telling her so and asking where her relative lived. It is a very common name, so I need a lot more info.

I didn't share my tree and I won't unless I am positive that we are actually connected!
