If they all needed electricity they would have been useless in our old house ( which was only 1960’s) as we were often without electricity.

We don't have a gas main along this road but, then again, I don't have a profiling bed, air mattress, electric hoist either.

I thought I heard thunder - but it was next door getting their bin out! :-\

When we moved to the bottom of the hill, from the top, it was such a relief to get a gas cooker. We had got too use to using the camping gas stove. Grr.

I have just spoken to my son who is working from home. With all the curtains shut, two fans it is still over 30. I expect it will cool down when he logs off from his computer shortly.

It’s been thundering here for over an hour but only a few spots of rain and no lightening. All the thunder seems to have done is make it more humid and heavy.

Oh, just had some lightening and it sounds as though the thunder is right overhead now.

That's so true, Sharron.

We had a power cut for about 3 hours on Saturday, and another one today for half an hour - caused by the heat, not thunder.
That's when I revel in having a gas cooker and a whistling kettle to put on it, :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 20 Jul 2021 15:37

Having spent seven years in dread of a power cut, I kind of revel in a thunderstorm, enjoying not caring if the power goes off or not.

Of course, I would rther it stayed on!

My dog is absolutely petrified of thunderstorms so I'm keeping an eye on the following link

JoyL

The sun starts to appear around the back about lunchtime so there is usually run around that side of the house then. We have a very north/south aspect .

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 20 Jul 2021 14:26

I rarely open my blinds or curtains on the south side in the summer, names.

Even my pal around the corner thought I was having a very long lie-in once. :-D

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 20 Jul 2021 14:23

Dry heat much better to live with. :-D

nameslessone Report 20 Jul 2021 14:22

We are 28.1 in the south facing living room with curtains with thermal linings closed

Fan going on now.

I am so glad we bought the linings a couple months ago they take some of the heat off.

The met office weather forecast said rain at 5pm yesterday.
It didn't rain - the humidity just intensified. :-(

We regularly had temperatures in the 40s in Saudi - but it was a delicious dry heat.

It is 30 here in the shade

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 20 Jul 2021 14:15

26 in the shade here. 36 in the greenhouse so somewhere between the two in the sun.

I can remember temps in 40s and humidity dreadful. Fans were useless and we bought a stand-alone air conditioning unit over which we used to drape a towel that had been in the freezer for a while when we went to bed - but because it did only the room it was in, our young son used to share our bed when it was like that.

As soon as we could, we had good air conditioning installed throughout. A boon!

We’ve got both the heat warning And the thunderstorm warning area. But am not expecting the thunderstorm as we missed all the other recent ones.

I wait to be proved wrong.
