They sent them to South Africa as well Belle :-(

Some of the children were as young as 3....some children were told their parents had died.

Some parents did not know their children had left the country :-(

Belle...read a few books about that.....and they were not all orphans! :-(

There is a couple of films.....The Leaving of Liverpool and Oranges and Sunshine...not sure but I think the latter was about the Social Worker Margaret Williams who opened a can of worms :-(

Similar to when orphans were sent from the UK to Canada & Australia about the same time too :-|
