I think a leaflet dropped through our letterbox several weeks ago about this - such as Ann wrote about above.

We decided not to join as we felt there were too many busybodies and too many initiatives around and surely some of them will include some dodgy people whom we would not want knowing how many are in our household or what we're thinking of doing (decorating and such). Jobs for the boys does not stop at parliamentary level and we can't all be good can we? ;-)

Several years ago, I spent some time helping one initiative with well-researched statistical comparisons city-wide, setting everything out for them in order to press their case - something that, although time-consuming, came easy to me as I'd done it in the past so I was happy to do it. All they had to do was to photocopy everything for presentation. No one in that particular group ever acknowledged anyone doing anything other than their own little clique.

Edit: It sounds like sour grapes, doesn't it - but someone else took it as their own!

I was taken o task by the administrators of our local one so I left.

Well, people in a neighbouring village were complaining that a crowd of posh kids would lumber up in a couple of horse boxes of an evening which they would park blocking drives or dangerously on corners while they went off to party on he beach.

The police had been called and took no action, criminals to catch and all that. Other people wee commiserating and aking all sorts of suggestions, icluding contacting the local MP!

I suggested letting a couple of tyres down to inconvenience them.

Oh dear me! That would be criminal damage fo which you could be arrested blah de blah.

Sorry , but if the police will not turn out to illegal and DANGEROUS parking, what are the chances of them attending a flat tyre or two?

As far as I know Next door doesn't do that, it is more of a place to find or give recommendations for tradesmen or warn of road closures etc just a general neighbourhood app and you can choose how far away your neighbours are.

I think I heard something on the radio. They were talking about an app that collates information and tells you if you are paying more in charges than your neighbours. Sounds dodgy to me.

I have belonged to the local Next door for a long time bob, it is the successor to Streetlife if you remember that, but, in my opinion is not as good.
