Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 1 May 2021 12:21

What was lovely was on Tuesday .with granddaughters help ,I managed to get in the shower and also wash my hair

Have a corner shower but it’s a step up into it .

One of my Amazon purchases was a corner shower seat and also some suction on hand grips and they did the trick

Had a couple of showers since too

We haven’t managed every day as found it exhausting because energy a bit low from lack of real food

Means though when I am on my own again I can do my dailies

Keep at it! OH had his second double hip replacement in January and found the exercises very difficult and painful at first. He persevered with them and slowly found that they got easier as time went by. He is now walking moderate distances outside each day when it is fine, and can manage to dress himself with the aid of various gadgets. I had to do the bottom half for several weeks as he couldn't reach his feet!!

Good luck - you'll get there. :-)

Shirley - stick at the exercises, they really do work.

I know you probably think you did the wrong thing now but it will get better.

I had both knees replaced in 2008. First one in May and I can honestly say I cried most days with the pain and often said "never again" to my husband. I think it was so bad because I had an infection in the wound (think it was there right from the operation) and I ended up back in hospital in July to have it operated on and debrided. Even after all that by the time I was due to have the second replacement on the other knee in November I went through with it.

Neither knee is perfect but they are both much better than they were before so I'm really glad I had them both done.

I've since had a hip replacement too and that couldn't be better.

Battle worn and weary

Not been a happy experience TBH

Went in on Thursday 15th to have the total knee replacement with patella reshape and the operation went ok and all well on follow up X-ray

What wasn’t good was the morphine pain killer they give twice a day gave me intense nausea that built up each day .

I was kept in for 5 days but what they gave as medical problem for non discharge became suddenly unimportant after I had managed slow walks with a walker to the loo and back

Sent home by ambulance though as no way could I get in and out of a car

Stopped taking the morphine a week ago but stomach is still very delicate so it’s very light meals like soup taken very slowly

Doesn’t help I have a hiatus hernia anyway

23 clips were taken out on Thursday

My granddaughter has moved in with me and I really couldn’t manage without her

She works from home in banking and is a very busy lady so am very grateful she offered to look after her ole Nan!

So it’s now trying to do the exercises

Walking little but often and hoping to gradually build up the solid food

At this point in time I.m not sure I did the right thing but it’s too late now :-( :-D

And Amazon has had a lot of shopping from me this week too !
