Good morning on a very frosty morning. OH has gone out walking with his Ramblers group, he must be mad. The worst thing is that he is doing the driving today and the walk starts an hour away in the Dales, not the best drive in these conditions .
I had to be up and ready early as the local charity furniture store are supposed to be coming this morning to collect our dining room furniture which we are donating to them. I thought that they were coming first thing, but there is no sign of them yet. Of course if I hadn’t got ready early, they would have been there at the crack of dawn.
Your area keeps featuring on the news Florence, so I guess that you won’t be getting a shopping delivery any time soon.

I suppose it could be that an important person due at the meeting has been taken ill. Frustrating for you though Joan as you will have worked yourself up for it. Hopefully it won't be too long before they can reschedule.

Thank goodness you hadn't already set off through the snow, Joan.
The snow may be a good thing, if it has made your daughter realise some of the difficulties.

That is just typical Joan and your poor daughter wasting all that time making the drive safe to use.
It was pleasant but cold walking into the square. We went slowly because some of the pavements were icy, but even going slow, it is only a five minute walk. OH bought a date slice to have later and I was very naughty and bought a Fat Rascal, not exactly Slimming World friendly. ;-)
Someone is coming later this afternoon to pick up the desk. It is amazing how big the study looks with the new much smaller desk. In the old days we had a printer and a separate scanner, a computer tower etc. Now we just have a laptop and a combined printer/copier/scanner , so we don’t need a big desk.

GRRRRRRRRRRRR
Just had a phone call from daughter to tell me the meeting has been cancelled !!!
I am fizzing, seems it's ok for them to cancel / re schedule but not ok for the family to do so. I am sooooo angry, I am just waiting for daughter to come over to find out more.

Hello everyone. We are all geared up for the meeting this afternoon. daughter cam over & took the car up & down the house road many times to make some tracks, tricky at first getting to the top of the road & round the bend but she has managed to make it passable.
We have quite a lot of snow after the last lot during the night, around 3 or maybe even 4 inches, but on the house road it had blown into thicker reeves.
The new guttering which is really deep is full to the top with snow & a few icicles hanging for it.
Daughter is being really nice to me & actually now agreeing with much of what I have said with refards to hubby coming home etc, she is beginning to understand what I was saying.
We are going to the hospital a bit earlier than appointment time so as to be there before the others arrive. Bye just now, be back later hopefully.
Joan.

Afternoon all.
Yes we had more snow and the roads now have tracks on them. No planes to the mainland this morning as the runway needs clearing so no post at all.
Joan, that is totally unacceptable!!! Both you and your daughter need to be able to hear what is being discussed. Putting his phone on loud speaker is a good idea as you can then take part in the discussion. Of course you cant be expected to attempt to travel anywhere, that is just ridiculous given the amount of snow you have.
Could you ring your GP for advice if you explain you cant get there and do you have the right to get the appointment rescheduled after all, as you will be hubby's carer, you need to know what is being discussed.
Oh dear, one thing after another and I really feel for you and your family.
What does daughter think?
I had paperwork to find from daughter's schooldays to assist GP with a few matters but as I do keep things.... I found reports from 2006/9 which was perfect and sorted a query .I know I probably keep things for far too long but.... in the grand scheme of things, medical letter/reports should never be destroyed as you never know when you may need them!
Leftover veggie soup and home made bread today plus crumpets daughter managed to get yesterday for lunch. Not terribly slimming but in this cold climate, I need something filling.
Its started snowing again here just hope its not too bad as son travels a distance to work by bus and I always worry for him getting home at 6pm in bad weather.
Hope hubby enjoyed his birthday lunch Linda. Good that you could walk there. How far is it to walk?
Right off to make me crumpets and marmite now.
Joan, hope you get a solution sorted.

It would probably just add another layer of stress, Joan - but it seems to me that the high-handed way you are being treated (ignored ) warrants a complaint to whoever the top person is at the hospital.
I hope you've added the postie's inability to reach you to your list of reasons (with dates of occasions when difficulties occur) why you can't be the carer.
Does your husband have Welfare Power of Attorney naming you as attorney? Not that it would apply at present, unless he were to say that he wants you to deal with things now, or unless a doctor feels he's unable to make his own decisions.
Not a lot of snow here, thank goodness - about 2-3cms - but it's like an ice rink because it thawed slightly yesterday and then froze again overnight. Thankfully, I don't have to go anywhere today. But it's a beautiful sunny day with clear blue sky, and the garden is sparkling like a glittery Christmas card.

Joan I agree with Linda that it is ridiculous that they won't delay the meeting in view of the awful weather you have there. We have to use the speaker phone option when OH has Dr. phone calls so I can hear what is being said and can ask questions if needed. Not ideal but better than nothing. I hope you can get there though and have your say as well. Good luck.
Hope everyone is ok , we don't have snow but it is very cold and I am not going out anywhere. The back garden is frozen so it's drying the washing inside again.
Have to do my shop online today so need to check my cupboards .
Stay warm everyone.

That is ridiculous Joan and it will probably turn out to be a waste of time. Couldn’t you attend by ringing your husbands phone and putting it on speaker phone. That way you would be able to hear everything and they would be able to hear you and your daughter.
It is a sunny day here, but the highest temperature forecast is only going to be zero degrees. It is OH’s birthday, so we are going to walk into the market square and have lunch in a nice cafe. That will do for celebrations, pre Covid we would have gone away for a city break abroad, now we are just boring and sty at home. :-(

Morning girls. More snow for us at some point during the night, at least 3 inches in some parts of the garden but deeper in places where it has piled up, no idea what the house road/track looks like but the postie didn't get up to the house, my post was left at our daughters house. The sun is shining but I can't see it shifting any of the snow any time soon.
Daughter & I have to go to the hospital today for a meeting ! It's a CASE meeting with nursing staff/doctor etc, & hubby, we tried to re schedule because of the weather conditions but we were told it couldn't be changed, & IF we were unable to attend it would just go ahead without us !!! Not an early appointment either, late afternoon !
I am livid & more than a little concerned that we might not get back up to the house road, it's uphill with a bend near the top & I have lost count of the many times over the years we have got stuck on the said bend even with just a covering of snow.
My daughter walked up the road yesterday & she said there was a good lot of snow on it, there must be more today after last nights lot & judging by the amount up against the porch door I can see us getting stuck on the road. We shouldn't have to be going out in this weather but I can't not be there.
Joan.

Sorry to ignore you Florence, but we must have posted at the same time. Our snow stopped and there is non on the ground, it is just bitterly cold. OH managed to sort out the desk, so we have swapped things over. He needs to do cable management to hide all the cables and the extension lead, but there is no point in doing that until we move. It is a shame because the old desk was a large beech table with a tray hidden underneath at the back to hold all the cables. I have just put the old desk on the local free Facebook site, no doubt it will go quickly. We also have three Beech cupboards in the study, but only have room for two in the new house, but my next door neigh is taking one to use in her garden office which she uses as a craft room. I had hoped that she would want the table as well, but sadly it is too big.

I am pleased that your hubby is better today and that your daughter is being more reasonable. OH is building a new desk as the current one I the study is fr too big for the new house. It is a flat pack and he has put it together wrong a couple of times so far. It has a pullout keyboard tray and he has fitted the supports the wrong way round. The tray should just have clicked into place, but it wouldn’t slide in. He knew the supports were in wrong, but “ just to check” he pushed the tray in from the back of the desk. It clicked into place nicely, but now he can’t get it out to turn the supports round. I asked him why on earth,he had pushed it in the wrong way, but he just started muttering, so I have left him to it. Silly man :-|

Afternoon everyone.
We had more snow last night but the roads are clear just now. Every now and then a snow shower comes on a biting wind so it bounces off the ground! Daughter managed to get a few things but not everything like comfort or any cheap fabric conditioned. If I wash the towels without softener, they dry hard and I hate that.
I made a pan of lentil and veggie soup. i grated the carrots and turnip/swede plus onions etc and its ready. Of course had to taste a bit and yes its scrummy which is more than can be said for the brown bread in the machine!!
I followed the recipe that is in the breadmakers instruction booklet and it just hasnt risen much and doesnt look right. This has happened before and I used the brown bread setting???
Anyway determined to have homemade bread, so I found a very easy recipe on the internet and you don't have to knead it yay.... Its proving in the boiler cupboard as nice and warm in there for an hour. Then you give a quick mix before putting in your bread bin. 15 minutes more of proving, then bake for an hour. Im so hoping this one works. :-)
Sometimes, the best things work using good old fashioned hands and not machines :-D
Glad you have power Joan and no more snow. Glad you spoke with hubby. His phone might have been low on battery or something? A blood transfusion will give him a good boost along with the meds. Glad you daughter has calmed down a bit as being overbearing and bossy will not help the situation.
I opened the back door and we had snow against it oo but I managed throw some bird seed out over the snow covered grass and suddenly they were crowds fighting over the seed :-D But the pigeons rule here all 24 of them.
Daughter is on her way home now and should be back around 2.45 and will be glad as the bins have been emptied but are standing on the drive and its quite windy. I cannot go out as far to slippy for me with a stick.
Linda, hope your snow doesnt come to much! Hubby will be missing his walk.
Names, i weighed myself today and have lost 2lbs :-D but i need to lose 2 stone :-D :-D :-D
Right off to be busy and clear up the kitchen now before another mess is made!!

Hi Linda. It's hubbys mobile number, I managed to get through after about an hour, he seemed fine, more with it today so can only think the AB for his infection are working. He is having his transfusion today, 2 lots, which will take about 6 hours, I am assuming his temp must be back to normal as they won't usually do a transfusion if's up !.
Our daughter has just left me, she was very pleasant & not over powering like the last time we spoke, lol, she is a good lass really but can be bossy & thinks she knows what's best !

I spoke too soon, it is now snowing, but just lightly, so I don’t think it will settle.
How frustrating for you not being able to get through to your hubby. Is it a specific number for him, or the general one for the ward? Maybe you can find a different number for the main switchboard, that way you would know if the whole hospital is affected

Morning Linda. Still very cold here, no more snow after yesterdays lot thank goodness, not much in the way of sunshine but it is bright.
The bird feeders are empty but i can't get to them so I had to stand at the pback porch door & throw some bird food as close I cold get it to the feeders. I didn't think I would manage to open the porch door as the snow was up against it, with a bit of a shove I got it open enough to get my arm out, lol.
I thought my cold water pipes had frozen when I checked them this morning, they started off a bit slow but fortunately the water was very soon running normally.
I have been trying to talk to hubby this morning but I keep getting a message saying my call couldn't be connected, no idea what that's all about, frustrating !
Take care everyone, keep warm.
Joan.
