Afternoon all
Well that's me home alone until next Tuesday as daughter elsewhere for a few days.

She got on ok but will have to wait a few weeks now for the results as they never tell anything at these scans.

I've tidied up etc and now feel a little at a loss as nothing much to do. I don't make my xmas cake until 3 days before xmas so too early to do that.
Postie came with 1 birthday card sent 10 days ago 1st class and no sign of any others yet!
Think I shall sort out my pan cupboard as it looks a bit crowded lol and also I could reorganise the freezer as although daughter filled it up, everything is crammed and I think with some reorganisation, there would be more room!.

Ann, is the Masterchef final on tonight as I thought it was last night? I want Charlie to win, who do you think will win?

Hope you are not snowed in Joan as some snow gates in Aberdeenshire are closed.

Linda, hope you and hubby are feeling a lot better.

I heard from my sil, a child in nephews class(P2) has Strep A, such a worry now.

Keep warm and stay safe

Love the Robin Florence.

Technology is marvellous until it stops working, glad you got it going again. Hope all was well for daughter at the hospital.

Florence61 Report 7 Dec 2022 16:11

Well there was me thinking, a nice quiet day, not much to do and then chill as daughter away until soon.
However, that plan didn't quite work as the printer had other ideas. I needed to scan and print something but when I clicked on the desktop printer avatar, it said, not connected!! I checked all the wires and connections as you do but still wouldn't work.

I spent the next 2 hours trying everything from rebooting, different wires as had spares. In the end I had to uninstall the programme then re run the disk to reinstall it, wait 15 minutes, restart and hey presto!!

Shes 1/2 hour away so oven on and pizza and chips tonight yummy.

Crikey, talk about testing ones patience and I am a very patient person bus this certainly vexed me.

No idea why this happened, just one of those things and lucky i had all day to sort it!

Found me festive robin for me avatar until the new year, isnt he sweet.

Good morning.
I was up at 5.30 am today and now feel I need a sleep lol. Daughter was going on plane for a hospital appointment in Glasgow so had to make sure she was up for the taxi collecting her.

She's landed, so off to the hospital in another taxi. She broke her thumb when she fell in the severe storms last January and broke her thumb but didn't realise it at the time.
So getting an MRI to see if an operation can reset it as its still sore and hurts to bend her thumb.

She will be home about 5pm so I'm free all day although, I was wrapping the last of my son's gifts at 7am today!!

It was sleety rain just now and is baltic as they say up here outside.

Hope everyone else is keeping warm and safe.

You are so organised Florence!

OH managed to get up today, just as well as we forgot that we had to deliver library books this afternoon’s. I have caught his dreadful cold as well, so I went out with a mask on and threw the books at the old people from a distance.

I had to go supermarket shopping this morning as we were out of so many things, I could have done without that

Florence61 Report 6 Dec 2022 14:09

Oh, my I have been a busy bee today!

Pre xmas spring clean etc. Stripped beds, did 3 loads of washing including tablecloths and then dried and ironed it all! . I'm sitting now as legs and knees are sore and I burnt myself on the iron!!

My school collegue/friend came with a gift last night and a huge bunch of flowers which were beautiful. That was a lovely surpise :-D

Its forecasting some snow here tomorrow but think the highlands including you Joan will get it and we shall only get a dusting.

Just written the final xmas food list as lots now in the freezer so quite organised. Just got 2 dozen crumpets that daughter bought all reduced to eat up as no room left in freezer lol. So, crumpets for breakfast, dinner & tea for a couple of days but they are my favourite with marmite or marmalade.

Don't want any huge dinners now until xmas day and hopefully will lose a few more pounds, that way, we can have a huge blow out haha.

Hope everyone else keeping warm as its def winter now

I used to get an unsigned Christmas card so that I could reuse the following year.
So, if I did, I would have to run round trying to find an envelope it would fit :-(

I don't buy the 'doing their bit for the environment' Although that is something different to the 'giving the money to charity. If they can't afford the postage ok I understand that but for many of them it is just they can't be bothered. I don't mind if they let me know before they receive their card from me. But usually they don't. And with birthday cards I think it is mean. I do know, according to members of my family in their 30s, that age group don't believe in sending birthday cards and don't want them themselves. they prefer emails.

Anyway Florence Happy birthday have a good one. <3 <3

Sending warm greetings even though you have received few cards.
I hope you enjoy your day.

"Doing our bit for the environment" sounds better than "It's too expensive."

Every year our church organises a village Christmas lunch, and this year , for both those reasons, we've decided not to have Christmas crackers.

I don't think anyone will miss them.

Happy birthday, Florence!

Good morning
What a beautiful day, sunny & bright but crisp.
I was disappointed when the postie came yesterday and never had a single card for my birthday today!!!
However, my daughter gave me a lovely card and gift and she also had a card from my son, so I was thankful for those.
3 friends messaged me to say they are not sending Christmas or birthday cards any more as doing their bit for the environment :-S :-S

Why don't we just not celebrate anything anymore then, but will that save the planet??

Anyway, had 2 bunches of gorgeous flowers and they are now sitting pretty in my lounge windowsill

Seems snow is forecast this week in Northern Scotland, but I think it will miss us.
A dusting on xmas eve would be pretty though.

Happy Sunday everyone

Very worrying for you Linda with StrepA about, hopefully it is a different bug but wise to keep an eye on it. Pleased that Esmeralda is better though.

Thank you Florence. Esme is very chirpy and eating again, so she can go back to school on Monday.
Eve is attempting to eat some of my lentil and bacon homemade soup. It is smooth, so, easy to swallow. The rest of us were having pasta, but she said that her throat was too sore for that.

It is really cold here, I ventured out to the supermarket, but was glad to get back. It is forecast to be even colder at the end of the week

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 Dec 2022 13:15

You are all so organised with Xmas, I am only just starting to think about it.
Esme has been off school for two days, she had a runny nose, but then started being sick. She must have thrown up about a dozen times on Thursday. We put bed pads on the bed, but she still manages to get the bedding, so there has been lots of washing. She spent all day yesterday in her bed as well, refusing to eat, just having drinks. Thankfully this morning she is a lot better and has been up playing and is eating again.
In the meantime Eve got it. She wasn’t very well on Thursday evening and came through t9 wake me up at 1.39am because she had a headache, very sore throat and a high temperature. Poor thing was very ill yesterday, but she managed to sleep last night and is better today, but still not well. With all this talk of Strep A, we are keeping a good eye on her. Poor thing was supposed to have been spending the day at Ripon Cathedral with her school choir on Friday, but she missed that of course

Good afternoon, all.
Well, the mince pies turned out fine and I managed a wee while ago to walk round to no 1 and give them a pack of 6 plus a handmade card. Shes lovely my neighbour and thanked me before I tried to hurry back lol stick in hand as the blooming rain started.

I swear it waits for me to leave the house before showering down on me!

Ann, I had my eyes on Charlie from the beginning to win but feel maybe the Indian chappie could snatch it as he is really good.

Just Ginnie, my mums flat is completely empty now. We had estate agent round to value and they suggested a coat of white paint all over the walls etc and the ceiling before putting it on the market. So, brother has an estimate from the decorator to do this including paint £1800. It will be spring before it gets put up for sale as the chappie is fully booked until end of January!
We had about 20 boxes that went to various charity shops and hospices.

Joan, glad you are nearly at the end of your leaf clearing system. You deserve a good break after all the work you have done in the garden,

All my cards have now gone Ann as well, but nothing is getting through to us!!

I'm all for workers standing up for themselves and fighting for decent wages but why couldn't they have done this at a less busy time of year. I mean we are spending huge amounts of money sending things and not getting the service. It's very mean.
Apologies to all posties but it's not very Christmassy without cards, and not fair on kiddies who don't get their gifts from families living away is it?

I'd better start in Jun next year and send everything by 1st October grrrr
