I hope they river safely Florence and that you enjoy their visit. It is the first day of the school holidays, somI have been playing with Esme while her mum was working. We play ”schools” with all her dolls. It was a nice afternoon, so we took them all in the garden to play on the trampoline and swings. One day down, only two weeks to go.

Good evening all. My visitors are on the last leg of their journey and should be here by about 9pm. Slight delay on the A9 earlier today but managed to take a small detour so didnt delay them too much.
I have made 2 fruit loaves and a dozen cupcakes all iced and decorated.
Wont see them all until tomorrow as they will be tired and the wee one will be going straight to bed.
Weather blowing a hooley here....lol whats new its only early April!
Hope all ok with anyone looking in.

It's fixed Yay.....
The plumber said the joint was loose and tightened it but the seals had gone on the u-bend so he replaced them.
Had the washing machine since and no leaks...thank goodness for that. At least it wasnt full of grease and rotten food. I do scrape plates but sometimes the odd pea has vanished along with a bit of carrot before you can retrieve them.
So had better now go and put all the cleaning products etc back into the cupboard under the sink and will then need to wash down all the work surfaces.
Was going to do some baking today but i'm quite tired out at the moment !
I'm making 2 fruit loaves tomorrow anyway but daughter wanted a GF sponge cake.

Morning all
Well what a day!
Woke up to find a huge puddle of yuckky brown fluid under my kitchen sink. What a mess it was. So had to remove all the cleaning products etc first which were all soaked on the bottom. I then got daughter to mop up the mess etc which took an age.
On closer inspection with a torch and camera phone, she took a picture. The u-bend or p-trap is leaking! I tel the relevant dept for weekend emergencies and now waiting on a plumber since 9am!
And then.....my SIL's Tesco delivery arrived in the middle of it all.
My fridge is now full to the hilt as are my 4 freezer drawers.
I placed a bowl under the pipe and since then it has more brown fluid in it.
I'm guessing there is some food etc laying in the pipe and through time this is forcing out the waste through the joints, although im not actually a plumber but I looked it up on Google!
So what a busy morning and its not even lunchtime.
Linda, what a disappointment for your daughter :-( :-(
Can't imagine how down they are feeling. That's the problem when there is a chain and one deal falls through. Really hope another buyer can be found soon.
Oh my Linda, what a disaster with the bus. Yes thank heavens it didnt happen on a busy main road. So glad noone hurt and all got home safe & sound.
I was looking back over some old threads of various topics from several years ago and oh my there were so many people daily on the chat boards back then.
I suppose social media has killed off a lot with more people on FB and Twitter etc.
I never took on FB or anything else and never will. It never appealed to me and through my children, there were more fallouts than I had hot dinners lol
I shall look in later once the plumber has hopefully sorted the problem.
Hope everyone enjoying their Saturday

I am sorry to hear you have Shingles Ginnie. They were incredibly painful when I had them. We had a disappointment today with my daughters house move. They were expecting to exchange contracts in two weeks on their London house and they have had an offer accepted on a house up here. Then today they heard that the London chain has collapsed. The person buying their house had a cash buyer for their flat, but that buyer has pulled out. We were hoping they would be moving out soon, but that isn’t going to happen :-(
We also had some excitement earlier. Esme comes home on a council mini bus, she is the last one to be dropped off. We had just collected her and we’re waiting to wave at the bus. It backs into a cul de sac immediately opposite our house in order to turn round and go back the way it came. It had just backed in when the front wheel fell off, it is leaning with the axle on the road. It was going to be two and a half hours before the brake down truck can come, so we have the keys. Luckily one of the women has a granddaughter who lives close by, so she collected them and has taken them back to wherever the bus is based. It was lucky that didn’t happen on the motorway or while any of the children were on it

Morning....just. JG its blooming awful weather here too, hosing down again and windy. Typical as my visitors arrive Mon eve and looking ahead, its not looking too great.
I have various things planned but shall just have to plan by the day me thinks.
I am still waiting on DWP to do their investigation which I wish would hurry up as if the flat sells quickly, we cant distribute estate until that is sorted.
Hope your shingles has improved and you are feeling a bit better.
Drs rang about my BP figures I sent and asked if i could come to surgery for a face to face with a nurse re the readings!!! Honestly, I told them I was housebound and have no transport to bring me. I said please get the nurse to tel me and we can discuss, no need for a visit which is impossible for me!!
I wish people would listen when you tell them things as its very irritating repeating the same old over & over!
I'm finished of the chores for today as quite tired so now sitting with me cuppa on the PC for a bit.
Hope everyone else looking in is well and ok.

Hello all,
Florence we put the house on the market before Christmas , it took a week for the 1st offer to come in but it was way below the asking price and the agent was pushing us to agree to the sale and then started to be a nuisance phoning and asking if we had had other offers so we changed agents. We had another offer for higher than expected and agent had explained to them that contracts couldn't be exchanged until probate had been granted. By the time they had done all the surveys and legal stuff that was needed I don't think they had to much extra time to wait. Just waiting now for all the final bills etc to come in and once they are paid it will all be done. I hope your mum's flat sells quickly and everything else get sorted for you without problems. It seems sometimes that no matter how organised we are there is always something else to sort out.
Hope everyone is well and having some nice weather if you are send some to me please
Ginnie

Oh JG so sorry to hear you have shingles. Can be so painful. I hope it clears up very soon. Good that you have the house sold, was so quick. Mums flat is almost ready for estate agent to come and do photos. Im still paying all the bills etc and cant wait until its all settled.
White seems to be the in colour according to the first estate agent so we got mums flat painted white throughout and now looks so fresh and brand new.
Im not in the mood for cooking much tonight so may just have toasties, something quick.
Hope your OH makes you something tasty though. Take care of yourself.

Well I felt off colour last week, headache and shivery. On Thursday my neck was hurting a bit and I had a small rash at the base of my hairline. Saw Dr on Friday and yes I have Shingles. The blisters have come out properly now and are painful Think I have seen Dr. more this year already than I do any other year. He did my BP and thankfully that was ok.
My late sister's house has now been sold so that is a load off my mind just the final bills etc to come in and it will all be done . Still have some of her stuff here but slowly going through it all.
Decorating has started we decided on having white walls again and will add colour with cushions and throws etc.
OH doing tea tonight so will be a simple meal.. lol

good afternoon all. Yesterday was a beautiful warm sunny day with no wind. today it is 10 degrees but drizzly, damp under foot and very very windy. I have just walked down the road to post a letter and it was really hard going against the wind.
I have not done much else today except clean the bathroom. Might have a dust round later.

Afternoon everyone looking in. Well we have been very busy bees in the house today.
Sun is out, wind is very breezy but great for getting the washing dry. have stripped both beds which took me ages but all done and dusted. Some bedding already out on the line with another load almost finished.
Daughter did the bathroom whilst i tidied the kitchen and mopped the floor.
Daughter made a pan of soup too for later on as although lovely and sunny, its beginning to get chilly in the wind.
Daffodils almost in bloom, another couple of days and they will be out. Roses are coming along too and dwarf geraniums are making good progress as well.
Lets hope we dont get the snow they are predicting for next week. Eeek my visitors will be so disappointed if we cant get decent weather to go places.
I also heard this week, that Covid is rising even quicker here so really need to be careful of that. If my visitors arrive and test positive, it will be a disaster as they are only here Tues-Saturday! However when they go out, they dont mix too close with others and are very mindful still of the virus.
Hope all ok with everyone.
Happy Saturday

Afternoon all.
Linda, I remember it well when my children were little, Sunday morning never failed as the kids always woke up at 6am and on a school day it was much later lol.
Well I have been a busy bee so resting with me coffee. Tesco came at 11..30, daughter was away out so was on my own and it was a big order. The chappie that delivers is very helpful and helps to take out the items from the crate and put them on my kitchen table. Today there were 4 crates to unpack!!
Anyway, I took my time and gradually got it all put away except the salad container at the bottom of the fridge really needed a clear out.
So I started removing all the veg etc and .....oh my, underneath some potatoes was something slimy and it was all wet! Emptied the whole thing and found 2 mushrooms well past their best.yeeeeuk.
So had to wash that out with soapy water at the sink and its fairly large so quite difficult to hold. Eventually all clean again, I went through the veg, threw out some very old carrots that were also buried at the bottom. Put it all back plus a few new veg and job done.
So everything all in its place and I'm sitting as my paralyzed leg is aching around the hip, not sure why but its kept me awake last 2 nights as couldn't get very comfy.
Anyway, enjoying my coffee and a sit down.
Its raining on and off here today but its so much warmer outside and no wind either.
Hope everyone is having a good day today.

I am pleased that your bp is back to normal Florence. Maybe you have just had a bug. I have felt light headed a few times over the last, few days, but I think it is just the cold.
I had to get up early this morning to drive Eve to school, half an hour each way. Her mum usually does it, she does a circle, dropping Eve off, then Esme, but Esme had an appointment at the doctors surgery this morning, so I took Eve. My daughter was looking forward to a nice sleep in this morning as Esme usually has to be woken up. Of course the little horror was wide awake at 5.45 today

Afternoon peeps
Well its a sunny, breezy day but dry and not too chilly.
We have been spring cleaning the bathroom and also hosing the kitchen and bathroom bins to freshen up.
Internet has been very slow today and i spent ages trying to download mums recent electricity and gas bills so i can see where we are.
My BP was nearly normal today. Anyway i have emailed the chart and I worked out the average which is actually fine. So a bit more relaxed its gone down.
My brother has finished inside the flat and it looks brand new. Covered all cupboards and work surfaces with a nice grey fablo and what a difference. Just the lawn to mow and tidy up the twigs and branches in the garden. So could have the estate agent round next week to photo the rooms and then on the market.
Its exciting in one way but very sad in another as it was mums home for 29 years!
But its costing money keeping it as Im paying all the utility bills and very new the new council tax bill will start mid April.
Hope your rainy day dries out soon Linda. Family tree work is always good on the rainy days. I discovered that my grandmother's mother came from a family of 10 children last night and my father never knew either! I havent planned to do that tree but i have printed out all the censuses back to 1871 so i have loads of info if I decide to do it. I need to crack on with my friends one and get it finished before may when she coming to stay!!
Hope the sun is shining elsewhere and if not Im sending it to where you are :-D

Afternoon everyone Very wild day here and showery as a gale sweeps in so....back to the usual for us.
The town centre(miles away) was flooded early morning as were other parts of the southern isles too. We had alerts on local news yesterday about it. Happens at the Spring Equinox as the tides are very high. I remember once the boats in the harbour were level with top and nearly out of the water as it really was a very high tide.
Joan , glad you had a walk to inspect your daffies etc and good that some survived but still disheartening I know.
Linda, hope you and daughter are feeling a lot better now and Esme is ok.
Rechecked BP today as is down a bit but still high at 149/89. Shall make tomorrow the last reading, then send them to the surgery and see what they say.
Found out my next Echo Cardiogram is in August, so I shall try & wait until them and see if all is ok.
Just some dusting today and 1 load of washing.
More shredding as I cleared out some old utility bills from 3 years ago, so that has refilled the basket.
Light tea tonight as trying to shed 1/2 a stone before 3 April but proving difficult!!

Afternoon all. Another breezy showery day here and quite cold too. BIn lorry just came for recycling bins so I have just been outside to put the bins back. Oh my the wind nearly blew me over, I didn't realise how breezy it was but at least it wasn't raining whilst I put them back!
JustGinnie, what a nuisance for you with the rot/damp problems. At least you can stay put as that would have been a nightmare if you have nowhere else to go. Here's hoping it will get sorted very quickly and all go back to normal.
I have been feeling a bit strange over last few days, lightheaded(not my usual sudden drop in BP) so I started taking my Blood Pressure twice a day. I got a real shock on Monday 11am as my BP was 151/102!! never had it so high.
So I have been doing it twice a day. It has come down a bit to 150/90 but still above normal for me. I tel the surgery and the nurse tel me back. She said record for 7 days and email her the scores and then she will discuss if necessary with the dr.
My next echo is due in August, its been 2 years since the last as the dr was pleased with me.
Starting to worry a bit if my Mitral Valve repair has started to come apart in any way. The thought of going through heart surgery again is enough to put up anyones BP!! This morning it was ok at143/84 pulse 86. My normal reading is around 140/80 Pulse around 90(always high).
Anyway, trying not to worry and keeping busy.
Making a chicken dish with savoury rice for tonight and naan bread for daughter and myself and looking forward to that.
Hope everyone else is well and ok

It is times like this Ginnie that you discover just how much stuff you have been hoard and don’t actually need. Before my daughter and the girls moved in “for a few months”, I got rid of lots of stuff to free up space for them. Even so I kept lots, but a year and a half later, I haven’t touched most of it. So when they do eventually move out, I am going to have a ruthless clear out to make things easier when we do decide to down size

Linda, that does sound awful, I know there are different types of rot and one is treated with a chemical. I am glad we didn't have to move as we would have nowhere to go .
It's amazing how much stuff we have and when we need to have work done can't find anywhere to put it all. I have sorted through all the books, dvds and cds and quite a bit is going to the charity shop.
Today is dry so far but there are some dark clouds but hopefully the rain will stay away . Have a good day everyone..
