Good afternoon peeps. It is a glorious sunny day here with a slight chill in the wind. Daughter and I are still positive and full of high temp and croaky coughs but, we ventured outside into the garden for 10 minutes to try and get some fresh air and blow away the germs!
My roses are doing rather well and the fuchsias are coming along too.
I ordered compost and 4 large tubs last week, so hoping maybe mid week we may feel well enough to reorganise the smaller pots. Its looking very warm from Thursday onwards and no wind 15 degrees and sunny so thats great to look forward to.
Placed a couple of small bets on 3 horses in the national today, so you never know, may get lucky! I won £60 on the hotpicks in the lottery last week which was fab too.
Hope the sun is shining wherever you all are :-D

I am glad that you are both picking up Florence, don’t overdo tbe ironing. If you aren’t going out anywhere, no one will see if you are a bit crumpled :-D
We have just been playing out in the garden, but Esme is tired after trampolining, so has gone for a lie down to watch her iPad. That means I get a bit of respite as well. Her mum has been away over night, but is due back this afternoon, so that will take some of the pressure off me as well

Morning to all looking in today. Well daughter and I are feeling a bit better as temp fits have stopped thank goodness but we both took a test today and both are still positive.
Its the coughing that is the problem. It hurts the ribs and back and is a very croaky cough. Hopefully by the weekend it will improve.
I have lost 5 lbs now in weight and daughter too...but not complaining :-D
No appetitive really, just living on little bit, crumpets, an apple, a yoghurt and plenty water. Certainly not ready for any proper meals.
Going to try and do some ironing for a little while as its building up but shall not overdo it.
Hope everyone else is keeping well and ok.

Hi Linda. Nope both daughter & i were so careful because i had heart surgery on5th April(i think or the 4th) in 2020 just as went into lockdown. So when I returned from the hospital in Glasgow, nobody was allowed out so that kept me clear of victors for months which was good.
My health then took other turns and again, I stayed indoors without visitors. I had to give up driving in 2021 jul so since then have more or less been confined to barracks with the exception of a couple of trips to town with a friend.
So for 3 years, we escaped but it got us in the end! Daughter has had 5 jags and I had 3.
You sound like you had a very long and tiring day. I guess you could have done without the art preview but understand why you felt the need to go!
Hope you are enjoying a nice cuppa with your feet up

Oh dear, I am sorry that you have Covid Florence. Have you had it before?
My son and his wife had it a few weeks ago and they were both really ill for a week. They had managed to avoid it since the start of the outbreak, but it caught up with them in the end despite being fully vaccinated
I have had a busy day today. I went to get my haircut which involves a thirty minute drive north, I took Eve with me and from there we drove straight to York, which involves passing more or less by home again and thirty minutes south :-( One of her best friends from when she lived in London was staying in Leeds at her grandparents for Easter, so her mum brought the friend and her brother on the train to York. We met up and spent the afternoon in the Castle Museum which is very good for children. They were very interested in everything and completed all of the children’s trails. I was very tired by the time we got back, but I had to go straight out again to an art preview in the local arts centre. My next door neighbour was exhibiting some of her stuff, so I felt I had to go. I am very glad to be back now as my feet are aching

Florence some people seem to test negative after five days, with me it was ten days so it is not the same for everyone. Maybe test again when your temp goes down and your cough eases.

Well I guess it was inevitable...daughter was feeling out of sorts yesterday but today tested positive for Covid.
In one way it means as we live together its easier to deal with but she is a type 1 diabetic and hasnt eaten today as has no appetite.
my coughing is awful and being sick on just fluid is dire. managed a crumpet yesterday but so far the thought of food is nauseating. Have been drinking iced water as much as i can.
My brother tel to say they are all negative and fine so i am pleased for that. Their saving grace was that on saturday, they were packing all day and only came for the meal from 5-7,30. They were not here on Sunday when i started coughing so maybe that saved them.
i dont know how long these symptoms last as right now Im feeling so awful, I cant see me feeling better for several days yet.
How long before you are really clear and when should i re-test? maybe on Friday/saturday?

Oh Florence what bad news for you, take care.
Well after a wet & windy start to the day we now have a blue sky & fluffy clouds, glorious sunshine & almost no wind, so much warmer now, long may it last..
I managed to get outside today & do a bit of tidying up around the flower borders & big tubs, I rescued & picked the Daffies that have been blown about & were bent over & put them into a vase, they look so untidy when they get damaged & loll about, lol.
Earlier I was sat chatting to hubby & watching out of the bedroom window & saw 2 Hares prancing in the field but close to the fencing around our garden, they were having a lovely time.
I have seen several over the past month, even had one in the garden, recently, fortunately they don't touch any of my flowers.
Yesterday I gave the stair carpet a bit of a "shampoo", some Stardrops in warm water & sponged over it without getting it wet !
What a difference today, after hoovering it, I'm really pleased with it. It is rather old now & would really like a new one, but I can't face the hassle, lol, hence having a go at cleaning it up a bit !. It has turned out better then I thought it would & with not too much effort.
I hope it's nice where you are, have a nice day. . Joan.

Sorry to read that you have had a positive test, Florence. What a shame after spending some happy times with your family.
Not sure what arrangements there are in Scotland, but in England, some vulnerable people can get special medication if they have a positive covid test. Your surgery would know, I expect.
Hope daughter stays symptom-free and that you feel a lot better soon. Take care.

Morning all Well the nurse came to do a full set of bloods and an ECG. All went ok until she told me my temp wass up at 37.5! I know I caught a chill but yesterday and today, i have been coughing something awful and have been sick with the coughing. My whole body aches and i havent felt like this in years.
The bloods will show infection markers , if any raised white cells etc but will have to wait until Wed as its a bank holiday today.
So Im just drinking lots of water and eating nothing as no appetite.
JG, glad you are getting over the shingles now, horrid to have it.
Im going off to do a Covid test, just for peace of mind. We didnt mix closely with anyone as was out on beaches and open spaces etc but you never know.

Pleased you had a lovely time with your family Florence , it's always hard when it's time for them to leave. Hope your cold goes away quickly.
Linda I hope your granddaughter gets good results from the tests.
Sorry to hear that your OH is poorly with the angina as well as other issues. We had the opposite problem as our bathroom is downstairs which was never a problem till we got older and needed the loo in the night more. Having mobility issues myself it was hard to get up and go downstairs so we gave up a small part of our room and had a toilet and basin put in . We had to have a Saniflo system as we had no water pipes upstairs at all. Cost us more but it has been so useful I wish we had done it sooner.
Feeling better now as the Shingles have almost gone although I still feel some sharp pains but Dr said that can stay for a while but on the whole feel so much better.
No Easter egg hunts here as our G/children are all adults now. Still buy them an egg though. :-)
Have a good weekend.

Oh Joan, I did wonder if hubby wasn't well. Poor man and poor you now having to make changes to make everything comfortable for him. At least you have a spare room and he has a nice view too so that's something.
Being so far from the hospital would make it so difficult and challenging, i can well understand why he has chosen not to have any tests.
Enjoy your lovely roast dinner today and then the film after with your feet up mrs, well deserved.
Your garden sounds a lovely picture and just love the forget me knot blue colour.
Im sure come mid summer, it will be a sea of colours with everything in bloom.
Take care Florence in the hebrides

Good morning peeps and a Happy Easter to all looking in.
Well I had a wonderful week with my family and of course a few "adventures" as well as there will always be something to happen!
We went ten pin bowling and I managed to play with just my stick and yes I didnt fall over lol :-D
Went to a museum and had lunch in the cafe, that was very interesting although 6 yr old nephew does get bored easily so we can never stay in one place for too long.
Went out for dinner to a local hotel which was ok until one of the steaks was overcooked....twice! In the end they didnt charge us for it £25 no less and they didnt seem to understand the difference between well done & medium rare but was lovely being out.
I cooked here too and yesterday as it was their last day, made a full roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings and home made fruit crumble. They really enjoyed it.
Then of course we had to say goodbye :-( :-(
Always the hardest when you live so far away. Little nephew wanted to stay with me bless him. However he is very active and at times he really wore me out!
So clear up day as we left a few things last night after the meal. I was too exhausted to finish off and then a shower.
Sadly i did catch a chill from the windy day at the beach so full of a cold now but it will pass soon.
So how is everyone? Joan, havent seen you in ages so hope all is fine with you, AnnG, Just G.
Linda, what a lovely surprise being woken so early!!!! Bless them. We also had 2 egg hunts here at a speed of 100mph, never seen anyone run round the garden so quick to fill his bag.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone.
Shall look in later :-)

I heard my daughter getting up early to play Easter Bunny and leave a trail of small chocolate eggs around the garden. At 7.15 Esme burst into our room, putting the light on and shouting “Happy Easter”: It was a bit or a rude awakening for OH :-D
Last night she had left a carrot out for the Easter Bunny with a little note. This morning the carrot had been partially eaten and the Easter Bunny had taken her note and left a nice thank you note in return ( courtesy of Eve). By 7.30 am, we were all out in the garden watching her collect her eggs. The girls both had a pile of large eggs in the lounge as well. They have both had chocolate for breakfast :-)

I am glad that you are enjoying your family visit Florence. We will have an Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday when the Easter bunny comes.
It was a lovely day yesterday, so Eve and I had a walk in the cemetery and took some flowers to Little Lottie Hamilton. It would have been my mums birthday last Sunday. I always put new artificial flowers on her grave on her birthday and a couple of other times during the year. We have got into the habit of taking the old ones to Lottie’s grave. We did the research during lockdown
https://jennywool.wixsite.com/lottie This is the link for anyone who is interested, it is quite a story
Annoyingly Esme was sick again yesterday.. She had a runny nose on Monday, but it could be an allergy again. She is having a blood test tomorrow, so they can start trying to sort it out.
After the glorious yesterday, it has been horrible today, it has been raining on and off all day. We had all of the paving stone paths down both sides of the house and the patio across the back professionallyk cleaned today. It took them all morning, They used some sort of chemical first of all, then an industrial jet washer, not the little type you can buy yourself. The result is amazing,I had forgotten that the pavers were a yellow colour, they have looked dark grey for so long now. OH usually does them with patio cleaner and a brush, but it is hard work and over the years, they have become ingrained with dirt which he couldn’t remove.
