That was a frightening experience florence. Let's hope somebody can sort it out for you.

Dermot, be careful he doesn't escape then, he won't know where he is. Is he normally an idoor cat?

Tawny 107/58 is a bit low! 121/68 is perfect. Mine runs at 135/80 which is good for me.
Are you feeling cold today?
Mind you everybody is an individual so whats ok for one person may not be for another.
Its brightened up now as most of the day was awful. Damp and misty and quite chilly.

Got my metal detector and put it together. have tried it indoors and it works so off tomorrow down the bottom of the garden and see what happens.

nobody up here bothered about England winning. rather outnumbered with no sign of a flag anywhere.

Anyway what will be will be. Hope everyone staying safe this weekend.

I’m pleased you got your metal detector Florence and hope you have fun.

There are a few flags here including at our windows as Mr Owl and I both have an English and a Scottish parent and consider ourselves British.

I mentioned my blood pressure to my gp when I was in about something else and she said to keep an eye on it. Unless it starts causing me health problems though not to worry as they consider it low normal.

Stay safe all

I just wanted to nip in to say what a lovely gesture it was that that footballer gave his shirt to the 10 year old fan, the memory will last her a life time, it brings me to tears every time I see it.

good morning all. Tawny hope your BP has sorted itself out and that you feel OK today.
Florence good that the metal detector arrived. Hope you find treasure. anyway have fun using it. Be careful to find out any laws covering 'finds'.
Joan did you do more than a weeks shop? good to get it out of the way. I am sure that your daughter won't mind having to change cars etc, after all I am sure that you and her Dad have done for her in the past, she will want to help you. so worrying when your partner starts to lose their balance. Is he managing any better round the house. I expect he has lost his confidence now.

We had a metal detector many years ago and found a plaque with a name and year that it was presented to him, any way we managed to track the name down, pre internet days and took it to the rightful owners, it transpired that it was a retirement gift but whoever inherited it dumped it and the plaque was all that was left, a couple of days later we were give a bottle of whiskey and a bouquet of flowers as a thank you.

Afternoon all
Nice Joan to have some company. im sure your grandaughter is enjoying being with you and also a help im sure.

I have tested out the detector in the house by putting a pound coin on the table and then hovered over and sure enough it beeped. If it is fine tomorrow and i feel ok, daughter and I could go down to the shore. Its just 5 mins in the car and a single track rd and also very quiet .Cant wait to see whats lurking under pebbles. It also works in shallow water too. im so excited you would think its xmas come early lol.

Its a lovely day but breezy but got washing out and will be dry within the hour.
Looking at my potato plants today, they are growing at such a rate, its amazing.Heres hoping we get a good crop of reds grom the plants this year.

Zzzzz that was nice to get a wee reward. Shame though it had been dumped.

If i did find someone on the beach that was valuable looking like a ring or something, I think i would take it to the local police station incase someone had lost it.

Debating whether to make some chocolate vegan cupcakes as im supposed to be on a diet but i havent baked since we moved and if i dont start using ingredients in my baking cupboard, they will be going out of date!

Well chores done and think a coffee is calling me.

Have a nice weekend all

It was nice here until 3.30pm and has been raining ever since then. 17 degrees so not that warm but it doesn't feel cold.

Florence61 Report 13 Jul 2021 15:12

Full of fog here last 2 days, cant even see the road only yards from my house. Managed to the beach on Sunday for 10 mins before the black fog started descending. Used the detector for 5 minutes but no treasure found so far lol

Been to hospital to get fitted with a heart monitor...again. Had just sat down in the room when suddenly i took a huge dizzy turn but before the monitor was fitted. How annoying was that!

Turns out blood sugar was 3.7 and an ECG was done as a precaution.
had some juice and a biscuit, a lie down lol and then i was good to go.

Tel the dr who tells me he thinks its to do with my sugar level;s??/ He was a new one and knew nothing about me not even my heart surgery.

so wants me to check my levels with daughters machine til Friday and see how they are. Good grief, they were low because it was lunchtime and i was hungry it was 12.30 and tummy was empty.

Not sure he was listening really and just jumped on to the blood sugar thing because he didnt know what else to say!
I am scunnered of the drs just now, they dont listen at all and really make out you are wasting their time, something i have never done...maybe not it just felt that way.

Sorry having a rant just now but I shall chill now for the rest of the day and read my book i think with a cuppa til tea time.

Hope everyone else is in good form and having better weather than here. Dont think any planes landed earlier either!!

Take care peeps

Aw Joan you work so hard in your garden but be careful..I was watching Alan Titchmarsh earlier, maybe you should write in and have him and the team to come & sort out your garden...all for free too lol

Glad your jackdaw has vanished. We had a stray chicken we called chucky at the other house, so tame you could scoop him up. Im missing my Florrie & Robbie here as no sign of any Robins just lots of sparrows, ravens and seagulls.

The fog has lifted and now a glorious sunset...except havent seen the sun all day lol

Oh well thats island weather for you.

Good night

Florence61.........I LOVE the expression you're "scunnered" with the doctor!!! Not too sure of the meaning but I guess you're "cheesed off" with him?

I'm sure I'll forget the word but I'd love to use it myself.

Florence61

Florence61 Report 14 Jul 2021 10:43

Kay.."scunnered" is a Scottish word used here to mean you are fed up big time or as you said cheesed off.

When they go for shopping here they say they are going for the "messages" lol never got my head around that one.

Aw sorry Joan maybe not Alan Titchmarsh then. I'm sure you are doing a grand job yourself, it sounds wonderful, just take regular breaks and take care.

Just typing a mega long complaint letter to SSE but thats a very long saga!

Maybe back later peeps.
Have a good day all

Hello to all,

Joan, I don't like some of the garden designs on the tv shows either. Although I do like Charlie Dimmock.

Florence, my OH has low blood sugar at times (he is diabetic) one of his signs is feeling dizzy. I have Vertigo and when it is bad the dizziness is horrible and does make life awkward.

Looks like we may be having some warmer weather which will be nice but I am very thankful that we haven't got the heat that some other countries have at the moment.

Off to put some washing out. Be back later :-) :-)

Florence61

Florence61 Report 14 Jul 2021 13:36

Well no fog and a brighter day. So did a load of washing, opened back door and was nearly blown away lo. Its far too windy for the washing. It will either end up in neighbours garden or probably up the road on the giant turbine lol I can just imagine my smalls going round & round on the blades!!

And yes I cant do the heat so to be fair would rather have windy and cool than hot and humid.
