My retirement has triggered my work pension. i completed the forms etc and that will start 1st may. There is no choice to defer payment and make private contributions, not that i could afford that anyway. |

I guess Florence you were with either local government or civil service or similar as I know you were in a school. Therefore, as she has had six months off on full sick pay and six months on half pay ( more than a lot of private firms I think) she is not able to stay on the sick as she has exhausted all the sick pay due. when I worked for the C Service that would have been medical retirement and there would have been an officer available to give advice on what to do next. Have you had any advice at all or help with pension claining etc florence. |

If Florence was fit enough she would be able to get a little job to supplement her pension. If she was receiving sick pay she would not be able to do any work. |

I have no idea whether sick pay is more than dole but, Florence, just a thought - can't you stay on the sick? |

I was in touch with my Union, but as my job isnt being done away with, I cannot get redundancy. You can only be made redundant if your job is being done away with. I was on full pay for 6 months, then 1/2 pay for 6 months then zero. I asked for any holiday pay due so got that afterwards. |

I would certainly get your situation checked out it can't hurt can it? Is there citizen advice or similar near you? |

When the border opens for non-essential travel (holidays) on 21/4, I think you will be able to fly within the UK with a letter from your doctor about not wearing a mask, and whether or not you've been vaccinated shouldn't enter into it. |

Can you wear a plastic face shield rather than a mask? I know some people can’t. |

'Early retirement due to efficiency' sounds more like redundancy to me. |

Sorry to hear this Florence but I didn't know the rules had been changed, is it only in Scotland. Do you have a solicitor, it sounds like discrimination to me, is your 'early retirement' on medical grounds? There must be rules covering this and it seems hard that there is no extra pay involved. Were you given enough notice I wonder. Seems odd to me but then I don't know the law governing it in Scotland. |

Well that is it folks. I am now officially retired However not by choice. because for various reasons, I cannot wear a facemask, my employers could not redeploy me anywhere else within the company where i didnt need to wear one. |
