I remember the story and thought that it was true at the time :-S

Mind you, I was only nine in 1957 and spaghetti came in tins :-D :-D

Did anyone see this old spaghetti story mentioned on The One Show this evening?

I must have been watching a report about it.

That is strange because I was convinced it was in the 70s. I do remember it very clearly but I remember seeing it on a colour TV and we certainly didn't have a colour TV in 1957. I suppose they may have repeated it at some point in the 70s.

You are right Joy. Apparently Panorama used Richard Dimbleby as the voice over for the story to give it more authenticity.

I can hardly believe it was in 1957 and I actually remember it! I can't remember half of what I did yesterday!!!

You're correct JoyLouise.

His voice gave 'authority' to the report.

I recall the spaghetti story. I want to say it was Richard Dimbleby who lbroke the story but I;m not sure that I have the right Richard. I must look it up. Too long ago! :-0

...some of the time.

I vaguely recall the spaghetti story.

It is interesting to read that pasta was considered rather exotic then.
