How Sad

A work colleague of Mr Owl has lost his dad. The man let’s call him John is in his 50s and his dad Ian was 92. Ian had worked as a miner all his days and was told in October that he has mesothelioma a form of lung cancer and he had six months. Ian was told he couldn’t go home until they had all the equipment at his home that he needed.

After Ian died a doctor ticked the wrong box on the death certificate and so sent his dad for an autopsy. The autopsy revealed he had never had cancer in the first place and it was Covid-19 that killed him. He never got out of hospital.

The funeral parlour refused to take his dad to the autopsy incase something went missing. They phoned John and John phoned the relevant body to say his dad was supposed to have an autopsy at 3pm and now it was just after 2pm and nobody had collected him yet. John was told no his mother was definitely at the hospital waiting on the autopsy. His mum was safe and well at home. Cue more anger.

How very sad and made worse by the later mistake.

But this shows how confusing all this is. There has been much in the press about death certificates stating COVID when there was evidence and here is the complete opposite.
