I was very sad to hear of Captain Tom’s passing although knowing his family was with him, I hadn’t held out great hope of a recovery. He was a wonderful man and I felt a kind of link with him because my Dad served In Burma too and received the Burma Star. His family will miss him terribly but I think the numerous film clips and interviews of him will be a very special way of keeping his memory alive throughout the years as the family grows. He helped create his own memorial and brought people together in many ways. Certainly he made his life count! Rest in peace, Sir Tom. I do think Applaud would have been a better word for clap tho. The images of respect that I've seen online brought a tear to my eye. Piccadilly Circus, Wembley, The London Eye...... all lit up in tribute. |

An example to us us all, with his 'can do attitude' rather than 'poor me bored with lockdowns'. He showed us what can be achieved by anyone, even someone at his great age if you put your mind to it. He has even inspired children to do something. A good man who showed gratitude to the great NHS we have. RIP Captain Tom. <3 |
