Island

Island Report 5 Jan 2021 13:00

now if you'd said 'joo-jubes' in the first place........ LOL

Sharron

Sharron Report 5 Jan 2021 12:39

I think sweets being called boo-boos is probably derived from an archaic name for them being joo-jubes.

The boo-boos Grandad liked were boos eyes.

Frank from up the road had a tin of travel sweets fall off the roof of his car as he went by . He got out and pretended to cry because he had lost his boo-boos so it must have been local to his house as well.

To us, a boo boo has always meant a slip-up, a mistake.

Not to be confused with boobies! ;-)

Island

Never heard of them...

Are you sure that wasn't a name just local to your part of the world?

I have a vague recollection from childhood of a special name for small fruit pastille style sugar-covered domed jelly sweets,....but it wasn't boo-boos.

Just because he has had something doesn’t mean he has a clue about it. ;-)

It was him who introduced me to them.
