Given the amount of steroids i have been on this year and I also receive a steroid injection every 4 months, my immune system is actually suppressed so I def will not have the vaccine.

The Taming of the Flu

Island Report 9 Dec 2020 17:36

Florence, it's reported that the vaccine has been developed quickly because it's had more money thrown at it. Finance is usually the cause of long delays.

Apparently there are different strains of flu every year so they must need different vaccine?

I do have quite bad allergies with foods and preservatives such as potassium sorbate found in fizzy drinks, mango chutney, jam etc. I also take an asthma attack with Aspirin, Ibruprofen and Paracetamol so i really do have to be very careful. Was a nightmare in hospital and never had any pain relief after surgery at all!

We are fairly safe up here, however a few cases recently came from people who had been away to the mainland and then it surfaced in clusters but its all gone now except for a couple who are isolating.

Of course there will always be risks with vaccines its just normally, the trials can take years before a vaccine is made available and I think its all sooo quick at the moment but time will tell.

Florence, I saw that people with bad allergies shouldn't have it. I want to know how safe it is for those with compromised immune systems. Questions will need to be asked.

For those who are nervous of opening links, it's the BBC report of the first person in the world to have the Pfizer vaccine - a 91 year old Coventry lady at her local hospital and what a woman! But now it is Boris in Brussels - sprouting something or other.

EDIT - apologies, I accidently missed the n't off shouldn't have it.

Here is the latest on allergic reactions to vaccines. I think Florence is being sensible, and living on Lewis, probably OK anyway.

Two of the health workers that got the jag yesterday both took reactions although recovered. It was said that one had many health conditions.

I am severely allergic to eggs and other dairy products as well as being Asthmatic.
It was saying on R2 today, that people with such allergies should think carefully before having the vaccine!

Not putting down on it, just saying, it isnt suitable for some people and im not wiling to risk it.
