Kathleen, I know savoury bread & butter pudding is feasable, but my brain won't compute :-S |

It is vegetable crumble I have great difficulty thinking about. |

That recipe sounds yum, Kath. I am going to ask OH to forfeit some of his gluten-free bread so we can both try it. :-D |

We turned daughter's bedroom into a den with a hide-a-bed after she married 21 years ago, and I've tried to ensure that there was room in the closet and a couple of empty drawers in there for when we have visitors. |

Sylvia, this morning I emptied one of the cutlery drawers and have done what you said. I'll try to remember to let you know the outcome. :-D |

I think my main emotion after straining the turkey bones was rather loud cursing! |

Still chuckling here, Susie, and it's not as though I have never done anything daft without thinking. OH would say 'plenty of times.' :-D |

susie that was one of those moments you wished you could wind back time ten minutes and start again. Had one of those many years ago when not married long. We were rushing to get to work, OH had cut himself shaving and was putting TCP on it (1960) Luckily we had no carpet just tiles on the floor. I asked him the time he flicked his wrist to look at his watch. Yep the open TCP bottle was in that hand. Can smell it now. |

I think we all have those daft moments. My daughter’s birthday is in the summer and when she was 11 we took 8 youngsters off for a birthday picnic in a country park nearby. We loaded both car boots with party food and ball games, piled the kids in the two cars and set off, me following OH. After about a mile I could see dark, sticky stuff like oil dripping from the bottom of his car so flashed my lights at him till he stopped. We unloaded the children onto the grass verge and he climbed under the car. After several minutes of muttering, he crawled out somewhat grubby and said he would have to empty the boot. That’s when we discovered that my idea of making a jelly with coca-cola wasn’t quite so brilliant after all. It was in a sort of lidded mould. In the heat it had fizzed up and lifted the lid a bit and was gradually dripping through the boot. The children thought it was hilarious. OH was not amused. |

Oh Vera, I can just picture the scene. I bet the children talked about your jelly for some time to come. |
