Good to hear that it was not cancer Maggie and, having just this afternoon had minor surgery done on a basal cell carcinoma on my face by a very caring and proficient team I share your thoughts. Half an hour of surgery and really well looked after by the surgeon and his two lovely nurses who even sent me to relax afterwards with a cup of tea. Imagine how much that would cost, then in 8 days time 7 stitches to be removed.

I have an inhaler with a spacer - which works sometimes -
but not very often!

I have inhalers and recently got a call to have a breathing check up over the phone with the Asthma nurse. I only have to use the spacer and Inhaler occasionally when I get a coughing fit.

I think I'm still due to have a spirometry test.
...sometime or other.
I was due to have one in 2019 - but never did.

Im thinking you have mild asthma as I use to not have to use an inhaler for 7 months of the year... from April til October. November is the worst month as it is the dampest.

actually, all the time, when I'm so pleased we have an NHS.

In the winter of 2018/2019, after a chest infection, I found myself, occasionally breathless. I was given an inhaler, which didn't do much.
Over the summer, things got better.

This winter - similar chest infection, more breathlessness - then a pandemic.
I eventually went back to the doctor in July.
Had a chest X ray in August, I smoke, so cancer was a possibility.
Results - totally clear lungs.
Back to doctor. I pointed out an immovable hard lump in the middle of my ribs - she found another one. Could it be a hernia or two, or cancerous lumps pressing on my lungs?

I had a CT scan at the beginning of September.
No hernia or cancer, those lumps are evidence of my diverticular disease :-S
BUT - they noticed cysts on my kidney.
I only have one kidney - it's called Kevin.
Kidney cysts are not uncommon in us 'oldies', and are usually harmless, but as I only have Kevin, they want to check.

So, no nearer finding out why I'm breathless, but I'm getting the best all-over check-up! :-D :-D :-D
If this was somewhere where I had to pay, I'd have given up/run out of insurance by now/thought the medics were taking the mickey.

Oh yes - and I'll have to contact my doctor again......
