I've had to delete what I put - it was a bit sweary :-| :-|

A bit of research (BBC site) - it appears they don't have identification, and the government said 'marshals can either be volunteers or existing members of council staff', which begs the question, if they're council staff, who's doing their job?
They don't appear to be able to enter houses, but spend their time telling people what side of the road to walk on.
But then, we haven't been given much information about them, and their powers, have we?

Another scam reported in Dunstable was a gang claiming to be Covid Marshals and trying to gain access to properties.

People are now getting phone calls at stupid o’ clock in the morning purporting to be froM track and trace. They say you need to get tested now and self isolate for 7 days. If they could just take your card number as there is a £50 charge to receive the kit and get the test results. They go on to state failure to comply will result in penalties.

I wonder how many poor people will fall for it. :-(
