I have tried to put a new battery in a watch, I was successful in getting the old one out but now the silly question is, is there such a thing as a washer underneath the battery that dissolved when it was on my finger? |

as a guess, could it have been a deposit(leak) from the old battery? |

No there isnt ZZZs ,having put many a new battery in,but before you put the new one in I would swab the cell fitting with a little meths or somthing like and let it dry off as any deposits from the old one will corrode. |

For some while now it has been possible to have a highly accurate wrist watch without the tyranny of battery replacement or the annoyance of winding-up. |

I've been digging out old watches during the pandemic - I didn't realise I had so many! |
