So, we are out of shielding tomorrow but other parts of the country have renewed lock-down.

OH is supposed to go back to work, even if it is only a few hours a week now he running down to retirement.

I find it all a bit worrying and kind of sudden.

I find it strange that you can no longer have a wedding reception with 30 guests, but can still go to a pub!
If they'd had enough warning, those with a wedding tomorrow (and 30 guests) could have just booked out a pub!

I find that confusing as well

I was self isolating for 12 weeks due to lowered immunity by advice from NHS. It seems the virus was going to ignore me at the end of that period. Fella is shielding, until tomorrow, then what? It's crazy.
Obviously we shall continue to take care of ourselves but having been told by some stroppy madam over the phone at the pharmacy that I've got to collect my meds or pay £60 it's a bit concerning.

I'm sure people having to go to work in an office isn't going to spread the virus, is it?

Because he is running down to retirement, OH does merchandizing in supermarkets.

His employers are providing him with masks, gloves, sanitizers etc.

It just seems a bit odd that, from full isolation, he is expected to go out to work.

The economic argument was always going to win over the health one. Back in March it was 'easy' to draw the start lines and enforce the rules, but there was never going to be a finishing line, at least not a straight one. Things seem arbitrary, confusing. I can go to the pub, get a tattoo, but I can't have a 10-min appointment to get my eyebrows shaped. I'm being as careful as I can as I have Mum to consider. Most people I encounter in shops have been wearing masks, although I didn't appreciate 3 staff members in Tesco, one behind in the bakery section, having a (shouted) conversation, with me in the middle trying to choose a loaf...

i , have a friend who comes out of shielding to day , she has been told she can go to one shop, and she must stick with that shop for a while , she was hoping to go and look around the village ,and pop in the café for a drink . has anyone else heard of the one shop rule ,its new to me .

Who told her that?

We would have liked a bit of guidance.

i don't know . i think it was in one of the many letters or a phone call from the doctors ,the last 2 years she has been very ill. so they keep a close eye on her .
wish they had done that for us , we have both been feeling our way around in the dark .

If you go out you MUST be sensible.....don't touch anything /anyone you shouldn't, keep your distance, wear a mask when needed..sanitize often...

I cant see this virus disappearing either...until everyone has antibodies, at least..

I don't think the "one shop" for people who have been shielding is a rule. Just something that was said would be a good idea so as to come into contact with as few people as possible. I'm not sure whether it was Boris or someone else from the government but I remember hearing it on TV.

Has your OH spoken to his employers. They would have been provided with some guidelines.

i know all of them are not mandatory but might be worth asking

He is only planning to go back to a few hours a week so we can continue to claim Universal Credit because he only has until next June until he gets his pension. he is freelance merchandizing which does take him into supermarkets.

One of his companies is providing mask, gloves and sanitizer.

I just find it very disconcerting to be told to have no contact with anybody one day and having total liberty the next.

We do need to keep in with the UC people and really can't prevail upon strangers to shop for us when we now have no formal reason to do so.

I think I am probably just having a squinny, in my usual manner!

A volunteer has up til now been delivering all the prescriptions in our villages.
Prior to that because Im not allowed to drive, daughter had to go on a bus which takes 1/2 hour to town and collect meds from local chemist as we have no way of getting to surgery.
So for the last wee while, the delivery system has been great.
From tomorrow the bus service is back to normal timetable, no need to pre book. That means we now order from surgery and they fax it through to chemist and then we have to go on bus to town to collect it.
The buses only run every 2-3 hours!
But given my health and my daughters, we are not in any rush to go into any shop as we have also been shielding since march.
Ill be honest, the thought of going into any shop just now scares me to death. We have masks but i am asthmatic and find them very claustrophobic so cant wear it for any length of time.

until Ive been told Im fit to drive again, we are now back to fending for ourselves even though i have health issues.
Surgery are not very helpful.Even to send out my sick note, I have to send an SAE inside an envelope for them to send the sick note back. So it costs me 2 stamps a time!!
We also have now an influx of tourists with campervans leaving their rubbish strewn all over the place and moaning that campsites are not open!!

I hope to return to work early Sep but the very thought is daunting.
Yep this virus and the whole situation we are all in is around to stay sadly for a long time.
