British History Online is making all research content free to individual researchers until 30th September.

If for nothing else, it is worth having a look at the Victoria County Histories.

Oh has had to compose his face to look pleased again, he doesn't know why but he does it to please me and I might just as well be telling him I have just found a winge-flongle. Just out of pity, could you all do the same please.

I have found a reference to the King's mill in the 1285 manorial custumal.

Now, isn't that something?

All I can say is that is local to me but I am not sure about where it was.

There was the big mill at Sidlesham but I don't think that this was the one.

My family lived in Climping MIll in about 1955/56.
It was just before I was born.
The family moved to Worthing, either because my mum accidentally started a fire there, or to be nearer a hospital, or both - and I was born at Southlands.

How strange.

Quite by chance, I discovered that I have a family member buried in Climping churchyard, which is right next to Ford open prison.
