Last monday I tripped over my own feet and fell down the front garden steps on to the drive, causing considerable bruising and pain. The next day my hand came up like a balloon so I rang 111. They asked lots of questions and said it didn't sound broken, so pain killers, rest and cold compress till it goes down. Today my wife, in her wisdom made me go to the hospital, where an x-ray showed a "significant fracture". I am now wearing a splint and awaiting an appointment with an orthopaedic specialist. Any other experiences with 111? |

I phoned them once, when a lady up the road phoned me to say she was incredibly dizzy. |

The arm is now in a plaster cast, the fracture being more serious than at first suspected. At least I can still drive. |

I am curious, Bob. How can you still drive with one arm broken and presumably in a sling of sorts - with the use of that hand severely restricted? Do you drive an automatic? |

Only the lower arm is in plaster, and all the work is done with the left hand. Hardest part is turning the key in the ignition. This would happen when I have so much work to do in the garden. |
