I went into the kitchen, and put the kettle on to make a cup of tea to take back to bed.
While I was waiting for the kettle, I fed the cats, then noticed something brown on the (outside) window sill.
Initially, I thought it was a rat, then it put it's head up - it was a young blackbird <3
It chirruped at me, I replied, we had a short conversation, then it took a baby snail off the window, and flew off. :-D
I presume it had been eating seeds and insects off the windowsill.
Sometimes it's good not to be too houseproud! :-D :-D :-D

When we had a coal bunker outside the back window, we used to put cat biscuits on it and were able to watch several families of blackbirds grow up.

Latin name for blackbird is turdus merulla.

Hmm Latin name, translated using 'cob' Latin reveals their habits! :-D
(the 'turd' bit)

Strange about coal bunkers.
We had one outside the door of the caravan we lived in, in Kirkpatrick Fleming.
A female blackbird regularly came and sat etc. on that!
I gave her a name, something as uninspiring as 'Brownie'.
Within a week or two, she came to her name :-D

I wouldn't do that now, not with 2 cats :-(
